Revisitations XII
by Graham Myres
Surreal batteries...dying in the distance.
Mystic remorse,
dreaming union...
...still wisdom seeks you
self-exiled contempt...I don't want to see you more than once in a dream.
Bad cut; across love...
...That they contempt ideas is underestimated.
Hate, hate.
That other emotion.
Piano failure. Familiar meaning.
I, who do not contempt love,
Am guttural.
...block faces. Jesus is my only worthy opponent,
a mad anarchist, begging for nails in the
wake of religious machinery.
Old blood; music of dissent.
...stealing beauty, a piece at a time.
Those who understand are careful statues in moving wind,
in silent conversation we acknowledge our own golden eyes,
and we walk away...
...love this city. Momentary value. Gunshots that say goodbye...
Whispering democracy to those who can afford it.
...pause.
