The Three Aces

Nice title huh? Fans of the Ace stories might be interested to know that the Ace you've read in Story of Ace Strife, The Black Ninja and Growth of Power was harly anything like that when I first created him. The Ace you've read is actually the second version of Ace. This page is designed to tell you about the three versions. Ace was originaly created back in 1998, after I completed Final Fantasy VII. Since a child I've had an amazin imagination. i often clash with Jeremy on BO because I spend hours building an idea, only to find that Jeremy wants to do something different. Anyway, this gave birth to Ace.

Ace Version 1

This version of Ace was only ever seen by one guy, an old school friend of mine who write the story Blue Soldier. We use to be Pen Pal letters, and in some of them, I used to include Ace stories.The basics were the same as Ace Version 2 - Ace was the Chosen One and it was his mission to protect and save the Earth with his great power. He also fought Meteor, trained in Wutai and recieved some training with Shinra. However:

Ace was actually Cloud's long lost brother. Cloud's mother secrectly gave birth to Ace (how?) when Cloud was five years old, and gave Ace to the family who lived two doors down. A few years later, Tifa learnt of Cloud's long lost brother but was asked to keep him a secret. When it became clear that Cloud could learn of Ace, Ace was sent to Wutai.
Ace was not adopted by a Fisherman, but Lord Godo himself, recognising Ace's strength and power. Ace was not called Tameto though.
Shinra attacked Wutai and captured Ace when he was 10. Ace was then trained by a genetically altered Sephiroth clone called WEAPON Sephiroth. WEAPON could absrob the powers of the WEAPONS, or so they thought. When the WEAPONS awakened during FFVII, WEAPON Sephiroth told Ace to escape quickly, and WEAPON came under the power of Sephiroth. At the end of the story, Ace fought WEAPON Sephiroth rather than Sephiroth.
Ace recieved his powers by finding the Temple of the Ancients. Despite the fact it was shrunk down into the Black Materia, Ace could see a ghost version of it because he was destined to become a Chosen One. Chosen Ones had a connection to Ancients, and when he went inside, Ace found the souls of the Ancients. When an old Ancient was about to be killed by the Demon Gate, Ace saved the man and was given the power of the Chosen One.
Ace had a pet chocobo called Chocy. Chocy was a female Gold Chocobo. If I remember right, when Ace was made a Chosen One, Chocy was given the ability to speak and fly. She however gave Ace alot of lip and grief.
Ace could not fly, and relied on Chocy to move around in the air. His only move as "Ancient Blast", and used the power of the Ancients. However, he was given the power of flight in a re-write. This was before I watched DragonBall Z (I didn't see that until 2000, and I have Ace the ability to fly in 1999).
Ace's costume was also different. It was a red version of Cloud's, with a red bandana and a grey cape. He also carried four weapons. Tied around his neck was a dagger called Digger. On his back, behind his cape was a much smaller version of Buster Sword called Buster. On his left hip was Melmusa. Though he did carrythe nunchukas, at first I gave him a mace on a chain, but the chain was magic as there was no end to it.
Finally, Ace obtained the Gold Materia. After obtaining his powers, Ace fought the Gold Materia WEAPON. It was a long battle, but eventually he won. He obtained the Gold Materia which let him capture the souls of the WEAPONS. In battle, he could call upon the armour of that weapon e.g.
"The Armour of Ultimate WEAPON"
The armour would cover him in a metalic version of the WEAPON's design, and he would gain their powers. WEAPON Sephiroth could also morph into WEAPONS, the the final battle involved them both becoming WEAPONS and fighting one and other.

That is basically all the main elements of Ace Version 1. Quite alot actually. I'm surprised I managed to remember all of that!

Ace Version 2

Becuase all the Ace stories featured in this site are Ace Version 2, I feel there is no need to mention anything here. However, this is the most recent version of Ace, and has expanded into three stories. You can obviusly work out the differences between AV1 and AV2 i.e. in AV2, Ace is not Cloud's brother and created the name "Ace Strife" as an alias as he forgot his real name. He used the name "Ace" from the Shinra project "Project Ace", which involved Ace being trained into an ace fighter. Strife came from a file about Cloud Strife, stating him as being dead.
However, I have considered writting one more story - Ace 0 or Prequal to Ace. This story would basically cover he envents in Ace's life leading up to the start of Story of Ace Strife. A total of six chapters would be written:

The Begining - Everything that happened to Ace, right from where he arives in Wutai to where he and Yuffie attack Shinra.
Captured by Shinra - The part of the story where Ace and Yuffie attack Shinra, and where Ace is capture by Shinra to be trained as "Project Ace".
Shinra Training - The part of the story when Ace recieves the training to become "Project Ace".
Storm - This is where Ace first meets the gang Storm, but it is lead to belive there are good people, rather than a group of Shinra hating criminals. It would also explain in greater detail the love between Theora and Ace.
Killing - In Growth of Power, I stated that Storm tricked Ace into killing innocent Shinra Soldiers. This chapter would portray that event.
Escape - The final chapter in the prequal to first Ace story. This would show how Ace left Shinra, and include a breif cameo of Erikson from Blue Soldier.

Obviusly, with AV3 on the horizon, I am un-sure as to weither or not I should write this. I have also experienced writters block with Ace. Not so much as I don't know what to write, but because I am growing fed up of the charatacer.

Ace Version 3

The main problem with Ace being a FFVII fan fic, is that I'm locked in the FFVII world. With the third story in AV2, I struggled with areas for Ace to train, forcing me to use caves. I also found it hard to do some of the battles, as once again I was forced into using the same locations. Ace Version 3 would be different, as I would be removing Ace from the FFVII world, and placing him in a new one. But that isn't all there is to Ace Version 3:

First of all, Ace now attends school and knows a few of the old Ace cast as well as a few FF characters.
Ace will no longer be in FFVII, but rather in a new world. However, FF characters will "follow" him. The list are:
Tifa - She was the sister of his father and adopted Ace when his father was killed.
Cloud - He marries Tifa.
Squall - Ace now attends school (like in Story 2) and Squall is his rival.
Tidus - Squall's lackey. He follows Squall around but really can't stand up for himself when alone.
Auron - He trains Yuno and Ace to be Samurais.
Sabin - He trains Yuno and Ace to be Monks.
Quistis - She teaches Ace in school.
Nanaki (Red XIII) - Nanaki has a vast knowledge of Chosen Ones, and approaches Ace to give him advice about how to use his powers.
Aeris - She is Ace's spirit guide and teaches him how to be a CO.

I may add in other FF characters as a cameo, for example Zell, Shadow and Edge may take part in a tournament. Edgar and Garnet (Dagger) may also feature in the story at some point as the king and queen of a country. Edgar would have connections to Ace's past.
All the old Ace charatcers will be transfered over into AV3, as well as new character Erikson. However, there will be some differences between them and how they appeared in AV2:
Geg and Arthur - When Ace moves to the town where Geg and Arthur live, the three become friends. They know of Ace's past and skills, but have sworn to keep it a secret. They were also there when Ace received his Chosen One powers.
Janine - She is has a crush on Ace and Silrun Pepin (though she doesn't know they're the same person). However, she has kept her distance from Ace.
Felicia - Jainie's friend.
Yuno - Still the same as ever, but now equals Ace in strength (unless Ace transforms).
Jeremy - A Paladin who believes he is destined to be the Chosen One of this generation as he posses Excalibur. When Ace appears, he assumes he is a test and must beat him to become a Chosen One, and becomes Ace's rival.
Erikson - A powerful soldier, who's family is killed by demons. Swearing revenge, Erikson becomes a Demon Hunter, and uses the skills and weapons he learnt as a Soldier to kill demons. This causes him to cross Ace's path.

I may even throw in another new one - Rytthew, Geg's darker, older brother. However I can not confirm if I decide to use him.

Ace now transforms into a CO, rather than power up. He now his white hair that stands on end and two angel wings. He can still blast and create energy items (weapon, shields, walls etc.) but now uses his wings to fly.
He now uses a sword called Zanmato. Zanmato is a holy Katana, which Ace uses instead of Excalibur. Excalibur is traditional used by COs as they are normally Knights. However, Ace will still use Melmusa
Ace's father, Reilly Pepin was a Chosen One, just like in AV2. Sixteen years prior to the start of AV3, Reilly fought the Dark Lord in a bloody battle. Ace was an infant in his Aunt Tifa's arms. Though his dad wins, the Dark Lord kills him. However, Ace's dad was a media legend. When Ace is sent to school, Tifa and Cloud suggest he doesn't use his birth name Silrun Pepin, and suggest he inherits the alias "Ace Strife". However, when he changes into his Chosen One form, he uses his real name. The media knew about Reilly Pepin being a Chosen One, but Ace doesn't want this publicity in his normal form.
However, Ace was trained in an Asian country, possessing great skill. He is a powerful martial artist and can perform a move called "Aura Beam" which his master Sabin taught him and Yuno. Auron also taught them excellent sword skills.
The Black Ninja of story #2 will also make a one off appearance in the story, though the reason will be kept a secret.
The Dark Lord will be the main villian, and he will send demons and Dark Ones to fight Ace. As for who the Dark Ones are, well Dark Dark Ones are, well, you will have to wait and see.
Ace will also fight WEAPONS. At the moment, I will use Ultimate, Omega, Emerald, Ruby, Sapphire (the Blue one from FFVII) and Diamond. I may also throw in one more, perhaps called Topaz, Atma or maybe even something along the lines of Gold Materia.

As you can see, there is already a lot put into AV3, and I look forward to writting it. More may/will be posted at some point.

And that's it. Those are the three defent versions of Ace Strife - past, present and future. I'm quite amazed I have managed to produce so much out of one character.
