About
Cardboard Blacksmith is just our little band that resides in Corvallis, Oregon.
Most of us go to Westland Middle School, although Mike does go to the-school-I-cannot-spell.
And Andrea, the "guest singer" is a 9th grader at CHS. [the rest of us are 8th graders.]
Cardboard Blacksmith is mainly just for messin' around playing music...but I personally would like
to be involved in community activites...
such as DaVinci Days Battle of the Bands or playing in coffee shops.
Well, maybe not coffee shops.
We hope to put out a demo tape quite soon...maybe a few 'self-released' CD's into the
middle school population. We are pretty modern in our sound, at least, but I think
it'd be really cool to get some music out there that people aren't listening to.
I'm refering to "people" as teenagers. So if we can spice it up with some blue and classic rock,
I'm all for it. Self-released meaning....burned by Mike's father and myself copying the
master to 20 blank CD-R's and writing "Cardboard Blacksmith: Out due to bad ratings"
on the 'Title:' blank on the CD-R. [out due to bad rating is APPRENTLY the title of the "first"
CD. ]
So, you ask, the name! Cardboard Blacksmith was completely Eric's idea. In fact,
Cardboard Blacksmith came together quite strangly. In 6th grade, Kyle, Mike and I, along with Matthew Phillips
started a band originaly named Dead End. Note: Mike hated the name. Then the band Downward Spiral formed, being myself and
Andrea Weger [guest singer in CB]. This kind of fell apart, so once again we pulled together my friend Kyle and Mike, being
the root of the band. We threw in Eric who was pulling his name [cardboard blacksmith] behind him when he joined.
Then, for good ratings [not that we were being rated, of course ;) ] we threw in a newbie guitar player....
[ drum roll ] Jenny Anderson! newbie, maybe not, but she'll get better, ya know? So our with our rhythm guitar joining, were
pretty much set. That's about where we are...we have something like 15-16 unique original songs. still decideing what to cover...
Five Iron Frenzy?...
Well, now you have the jist of things....
