championship mode

you must first start a new championship

after a championship has been started, you may choose to continue with it at a later date, or delete it

top

the rally

your career consists of 3 championships each with 6 rally events

for each rally, there will be six special stages and a super-special stage plus two service area visits

before the rally, you will get a chance to optimise car setups using the shakedown stage

top

car setup

brakes pads - small pads take longer to stop the car but will lock up less but large pads will lock up but stop the car quicker

balance - adjusts the brake power between front and rear brakes

gearbox ratio - low gear ratios give better acceleration but cut your top speed whereas high gear ratios give good top speed but reduced acceleration

transmission - automatic decides when the gears will change and semi-auto will change gear when required but allows you to change at the same time. manual means you have to change all gears yourself

tyres select the right tyre for surface and weather conditions
engine launch control - launch control reduces wheel spin off the start line

power balance - adjusts power going to the front and rear wheels

chassis a strong chassis is more resilient to damage but is heavy curbing acceleration whereas a light chassis gives better acceleration but is susceptible more to damage
suspension springs - soft springs reduce impacts of bumps on the car but tend to pitch the car more

dampers - reduce the vibration of the springs, quicker the dampening the faster the vibration is slowed

anti-roll - reduces amount of pitch the car experiences during cornering

steering the faster the steering setting, the quicker the car will respond to the controls

top

telemetry

allows you to compare data received from the shakedown runs

to view the graph, select it (using x) and use the l2 and r2 buttons to scroll across the graph

the red line indicates speed, green line indicates revs and the blue line indicates gear

you can compare 2 graphs by selecting the compare with option

at the end, you can choose which car setup to use by selecting use setup

top

damage & servicing

at the service area, your mechanics will try to fix any damage that has occurred during the rally during the allotted time

if during a stage the car becomes too damaged to continue then you will have to retire

if during a stage you rip a wheel off your car or get a puncture, it will be replaced at the end of the stage

if you do this again in two stages in a row, you will be retired from the rally, because you only have 1 spare wheel

top

points

the points system is as follows:

1st 20 pts
2nd 14 pts
3rd 10 pts
4th 8 pts
5th 6 pts
6th 5 pts
7th 4 pts
8th 3 pts
9th 2 pts
10th 1 pts

top

running order

this is determined by your current position in the championship

if you are leading the championship, you will not receive split times for the stages but you will if you are not leading the championship

top

stages mode

this is where you can tackle a single stage in any car

this mode can be done in 1 or 2 player, using alternate or split screen mode, where player 1 is the top screen

top

pace notes

the tighter the arrow, the tighter the bend - simple really

however the co-driver will also use these definitions:

care hazardous
caution very hazardous
crest a rise in the road that may obscure the road ahead
jump a jump!
long a long corner
very long an extended long corner
turn a turn at a junction
opens corner widens
tightens corner tightens
narrows road narrows
don't cut do not cut the inside of the bend
straight take the next few corners in a straight line
bumps uneven surface which will upset the suspension
tree outside tree on the outside of the bend
cut cut the coming corner
