Company K - Introduction

Welcome to the fascinating world of American Civil War Living History. A pursuit that transports you back to the times of Billy Yank, and Johnny Reb and recreates the atmosphere of military life during the Civil War in America, 1861 to 1865.

Company K, 24th Michigan Volunteers is a Northern based re-enactment unit dedicated to the realistic portrayal of a Company of Union infantry. This website has been prepared to give an insight into the aims and activities of the group.

To the enthusiast and history buff, re-enactment is a particularly rewarding hobby. Becoming a member of Company K involves a commitment of time and resources for any new recruit.

But, hopefully this website will give you enough information to decide whether Company K is the unit for you. If you are interested please contact us at the address below or visit our realistic camp at one of the many publicised events that the American Civil War Society runs, where we will happily discuss our activities over a cup of coffee.

Should you wish to enlist you will commence a six month introductory period, during which we will help to equip you to participate in unit events. We will provide you with the necessary guidance in weaponry, drill and equipment maintenance.

After a succesful trial period you will commence what we hope will be a long and enjoyable association with Company K, 24th Michigan Volunteers.
