Incom T-65 X-Wing starfighter

The Incom T-65 X-wing starfighter has become a symbol of the Rebellion's starfighter corps. Pressed into service time and again, the typical Alliance X-wing shows the scars from previous engagements, though the fact that it still performs as an advanced vessel of space superiority is indication of the ruggedness of the craft.

The fuselage of the X-wing  is 12.5 meters long. The long, narrow frame is flanked in the aft quarter by four massive realspace engines. Each engine has an aerodynamic S-foil mounted on it. The wings not only serve as stabilizer surfaces in air travel, but also distribute deflector shield energy and serve as weapons mounts. The surface of each S-foil has squadron and fighter markings.

Located halfway through the ship is the X-wing's cockpit module. Behind the X-wing's cockpit is an astromech socket. The astromech provides astrogation data for the fighter's hyperdrive's, and serves as a co-pilot and technician during flight. Three landing gears extend when the fighter is docked.

T- 47 Snowspeeder

When the Rebels were stationed on Hoth they used modified T-47 airspeeders to become snowspeeders, fast flying vehicles for patrol and defense of their hidden base. It took some rigging and hardcore maintenance to keep the frigid cold from permanently grounding their airforce, but Rebel ingenuity overcame the relentless Hoth elements.

The T-47 airspeeder is a small, wedge-shaped craft with two-forward facing laser cannons. In its aft arc is a harpoon gun fitted with a heavy-duty tow cable. The snowspeeder is a two-man ship, with a pilot and aft-facing tailgunner.

The main Alliance snowspeeder unit at Echo Base was Rogue Group, led by Lt.Commander Luke Skywalkeer. This unit was tasked with delaying the ever encroaching Imperial invasion force long enough for Rebel command to evacuate Echo Base.

The Imperial taskforce consisted of AT-AT walkers and AT-ST's. The snowspeeder laser cannons were ineffective against the AT-AT's heavy armor, and Luke Skywalker turned to a desperate tactic. He ordered his pilots to fire their harpoons and tow cables at the walkers' legs to ensnare the walkers' legs. Lt. Commander Wedge Antilles and his gunner, Wes Janson, were the first to successfully entangle a walker. With its legs roped, the walker brought itself crashing down, where the Rebel snowspeeders were able to get a clear shot at its weaker areas.

A-wing starfighter

Developed and engineered by General Jan Dodonna and Walex Blissex, the A-wing starfighter of the Alliance was used at the Battle of Yavin and was developed by the Tamuuz-an. The top-secret result of their experimentation ,the A-wing, was the fastest vessel of the Galactic Civil War.

Twin Novaldex J-77 Event Horizon engines push the tiny craft through realspace, giving it supurb sublight speed and performance. Though its Microaxial LpL computer worked hard to make the powerful vessel controllable, only the best pilots can take full advantage of the A-wing's speed and weapons systems.

On the sides of the craft is a pair of linked laser cannons that can elevate and depress 60 degrees. Some models even carry weapons that can rotate completely around to fire at pursuing targets. An A-wing usually carries concussion missile launchers in recessed slots along its forward edge.

The A-wing also carries a powerful sensor jammer that wreaks havoc on the detection systems of small fighters. Against larger vessels the jammer is useless. In fact, it is a greater risk, as the jammer's powerful frequencies show up on a capital ship's sensor grid as a large and tempting beacon.

B- wing starfighter

Perhaps the oddest-looking starfighter in the Alliance's fleet, the B-wing starfighter is as powerful as it is ungainly. The ship's structure is almost entirely taken up by its primary airfoil, which houses a cylindrical cockpit on one end, an engine cluster in the center, and a heavy weapons pod at its base. Located just below the engine cluster are a pair of S-foils which can deploy to extend the firing arc of twin laser cannons.

The B-wing's command pod has a unique gyroscopic control system. The pilot can orient it so that it always stays level with a pre-designated horizon line. No matter which way the B-wing may maneuver laterally, its pilot remains upright.

B-wing fighters figured prominently in the Battle of Endor as Alliance pilots such as Teen Numb piloted the ship into the historic showdown.
