All knights are held
responsible for knowing and adhering to the following standards and policies.
At all times these rules will be posted,
and upon request will be clarified by any officer. This page may
be updated at any time, and members will be notified of the change
through
the guild message of the day and may find more information of the changes on
our guild website. Either Guild Leader reserves the right to edit and/or alter this
rules list at any time. Last Update:
Responsibilities
of the Knights:
All Knights will behave in an honorable manner in all of
their dealings within and without the guild. This includes, but is not limited
to
actions in /shout, /ooc, and /guild speech. You are expected
to deal with others in a spirit of kindness and generosity at all times.
You are not to cause or add to arguments going in any public
channel, and are to never cause any sort of altercation with another guild. We
are a guild of honorable knights, and you are expected
to act as such. If that reputation is harmed, you may
face penalties that can include
expulsion from the guild.
There will be no excessive vulgarity in /guild chat. A few
occasional swear words is okay, but we ask you to stay away from the more
vulgar
profanities. No blatant sexual references are to be made,
and likewise no comments are to be said in any forum about a person's sexual
orientation. Please keep in mind that we have children in our guild, children
who may get in trouble because their parents happen to read
their chat bar and see someone in /guild chat using profanity. They have as
much right to play the game as you do, and to enjoy the guild as
much as you. Use your best judgment, but do not argue if you are
told that you have been excessively vulgar. All officers have full
authority to ask someone to "tone it down" if they are a little loud
in guild chat. The guild leaders have the final authority to warn or
remove members from the guild for failure to comply.
You are encouraged not to play Everquest while under the
effect of alcohol, or drugs which impair judgment. A few drinks occasionally is
fine, and being just slightly "tipsy" is alright too, but if you are
under the influence of drugs and/or alcohol and your behavior becomes
unacceptable, you will become subject to disciplinary action, which can include
expulsion from the guild.
Under no circumstances will you ever participate in, or
encourage the intentional "training" of monsters onto other players,
nor stealing
their kills for any reason. Consider this your first warning. If behavior
persists, you will be warned one more time. After that
time, you
may face guild removal, or any punishment the guild leaders see fit.
Camp issues will be handled as
follows: Should a Knight have a dispute with another player over a camp,
regardless of who was there first,
the Knight will do his best to observe the rules that the Guides and GMs
enforce. That is all camps must be shared. In the
event that the
Knight and the other player cannot effectively share the camp, a fair method of
deciding who gets it, such as using /random must be used.
If
this does not succeed, then the Knight shall leave the camp, for we do not want
our officers being called upon to settle a dispute of
something that can be quietly solved by walking away, and coming back another
day.
All members are expected to help
other members, as well as our allies, whenever necessary. If a member asks
assistance, any available are
expected to assist in every manner they are able to. Be certain to follow
proper procedures for handling the situation, and be mindful of
our knightly and honorable attitude. What goes around comes around, and
eventually you will need help as well.
In asking for help, if no one is available, do not spam the
guild chat channel until someone finally stops what they are doing to come help
you unless it is truly an emergency. Likewise, if someone has offered to help
you, again do not spam them constantly until they drop
everything to come. We all are here to play the game, and at times we are
unable to stop what we are doing, or cannot dedicate enough time to
help you with your task.
If the guild is in an alliance, all members are required to
be in the alliance channel at all times. If you have trouble using the alliance
channel, seek an officer or fellow guild member for assistance.
[NEW]
Player’s in the guild may NOT run a casino of any kind while they are
playing on a character that is in the guild. If you wish to run a casino, you
must do it on a character that is not in the guild. If you wish to visit
casinos and spend your money, that is your own right. We have not desire to try
to weed out and enforce that policy, but we ask that you do not disgrace our
guild’s name by running a game with unfair odds to try to advantage over other
players that may not realize that the odds are not in their favor. (A player
run casino is loosely defined as setting up a character in a place with a
moderate amount of traffic, and offering people to “test their luck” by doing a
/random. Generally the players pay first and gamble with the odds hoping to
double or even triple their money. The odds usually are in the favor of the
player running the casino, so therefore we do not wish our members affiliated
with those types of unfair activities, if at all possible.)
No
begging. This includes begging guild mates for items, money, or services, in
addition to begging random people to give you things. We work for what we have,
give away what we can spare. We expect you to do the same, but begging is not
tolerated. Note that asking once for a guild mate's assistance is not considered begging unless it becomes a chronic
activity. If you are caught begging, you will be subject to disciplinary
action, as leaders see fit.
Selling your items should be limited to one announcement in
the guild channel, and one announcement in the alliance channel. If you are
unable to sell it during that one announcement, the following options are up to
you. You may post that you are selling it on the guild
message board, offer to sell it to the guild vault (speak with Silvann in game
or via email silvan@tamu.edu for this option), or you should
leave your character overnight in the bazaar to sell it. If you do not have the
Shadows of Luclin expansion, you can make arrangements with Silvann to sell it
for you.
Should you receive any items or money from a guild mate as a
gift, it is expected that you will in return pass down
what you have received and
continue our legacy of helping other Knights. This is especially true for
items. If you received it from a Knight for free, then you are
expected to give it to another Knight for free. The same if you bought
trade skilled items at cost, sell them again to a
Knight at cost, etc.
If you have BORROWED money or items from a guild mate it should be returned or
repaid as quickly as possible.
Always compensate (through monetary payment, when possible)
for time, services and items lent to your aid. Teleports, binds, buffs, corpse
summons and resurrections are included, as well as someone offering to guide
you somewhere, etc. This also means compensating guild mates when
able.
At no time may a member use /anonymous. We want to see you
when you're online, and we want others to see that you are a part of us. If you
are not proud of your guild tag, we invite you to find a new one. If you feel
the need to hide your race and level, please use /roleplay
instead.
How to become an
officer:
Any knight may become an officer. A Knight who has passed
all the trials available to members can then attempt the trial to become an
officer. Since the trials have not been fully implemented,
a temporary policy is in place.
All applicants should be at least level 35, and have been in
the guild for at least 30 days.
Applicant should already be registered
for our message board, and be a regular visitor.
If a player has met those requirements, he or she should
send an email to sephrenia@tamu.edu
The subject / title of the email
should read "Officer Application". Inside it, the following questions
should be answered in detail, as this
will be your only "interview".
1. Why do you wish to be an officer?
2. What do you like about the guild?
3. What do you dislike about the guild?
4. How do you feel you could contribute to the guild? What do you have to
offer?
5. What would you like to change about the guild?
6. If you were to become an officer, do you agree to uphold all guild rules,
and work to make this a better guild?
7. What is your real life age?
Once your email is received, you
will be replied to in confirmation that we have received your email. Once your
email has been received,
officers will process it, and you will be notified within a week the status of
your application.
Responsibilities
of the Officers:
Officers must be willing to attend all guild meetings and
guild functions, unless specifically excused by a guild leader prior to the
event.
Real life events will always take precedence over guild
matters, but we must be notified before so we know not
to expect you to be present
present.
Officers should be people of the highest caliber, and should
be role models for our other knights. They should never be lax in showing the
strictest respect, honesty or integrity to all players.
Guild officers should be willing to ask Knights to calm down
a bit if things are getting too rowdy (or profane) in /guild chat, etc.
Officers may invite any person to the guild, if that player
is at LEAST level 20, unless the character is an alternate character of someone
already in the guild. The officer should be certain that the new character is a
good fit to our guild, and agrees to follow our rules. The
new recruit should be referred to this site, and has 7
days to post on the guild website. Upon recruiting, the officer should place a
public
note stating the date of the recruitment, so the 7 days can
be monitored. If alternate characters are brought in,
the alts should have the
name of the "main" put in their public note.
Officers should always keep their current email address as
the public note for their main / officer character.
This will be a time-intensive job. As an officer you will be expected to put forth much time and effort on behalf
of the guild, and be able
to perform duties without question. If you are one of the officers that has been assigned a specific duty, you are expected to
perform that
duty to the best of your ability and in a timely fashion. If for some reason
you are no longer able to uphold the duties of your office, you
are expected to stand down from your position as an
officer.
Positions available :
Quest Coordinator - will take requests from members
about quests that the guild should perform. This could be epics, but does not
have to be.
Quest coordinator should be well versed in many popular quests, as well as
several obscure ones, or in the very least have access to a good
listing with quest possibilities and walkthroughs. Quest coordinator will speak
with the guild leaders about possible quests that could be
completed, and together they will work out a scheduled time and place to
do the event. Will also work closely with raid planner should the
quest involve needing a large force to down an enemy.
Communications Officer, extra guild relations - Will
be our primary contact for the KCG, and will be our liaison to any other
alliances we will
be a part of. (go.to/karanacouncil). Will work with
guild leader and raid leader to get KCG events onto our calendar, and will
assist in
asserting our reputation towards the other guilds. Will be responsible for
maintaining a spirit of good will towards the rest of the server,
and should alert the guild leader should any conflicts arise with the other
guilds.
Communications Officer, inter-guild relations -
assures that communications are constant between the general guild population,
and towards the council of officers within the guild. Will also be in charge of
selecting locations and goals for our weekly "newbie raids" and will
work
with the guild leader and raid planner to make it work. Oversees the
maintenance of the guild roster, and plans occasional non-raid gathering
events.
Sergeant at Arms - responsible for assuring that all
goes peacefully within the guild, and that all knights are behaving as they
should. He
will make a report of when other guilds or peoples offend our members and keep
a running total of infractions. When any one person or guild
offends us 5 times, he will report to the guild leaders of such activity,
whereupon the leaders will contact the opposing guild's leader and
try to get some resolution out of it. If no resolution is to be found that
guild or person will be put upon a "black list", and will be
denied assistance from our guild in every way.
In addition to these positions, there will be a group of
general officers. At any time, the officers in these positions may call upon
another
officer to assist them in their duties.
Responsibilities
of the Guild Leaders:
The guild leaders will share all administrative duties. They
reserve the right to remove any member for any reason, and are the final word
in
all guild disputes.
Responsibility for keeping the guild website updated falls
to the leaders.
Except in cases where both guild leaders must be absent on
an appointed guild meeting day, one or the other will head the meeting, and
post
minutes from it to the web site in a timely fashion.
Approves all guild officer candidates, and distributes
officer flags.
Approves all dates, times and locations
for official guild events and raids.
Invite players to the guild
Raid Rules:
All raid participants will be at meeting location on time.
If you aren't there when we get ready to go, you may not attend the raid.
All loot items will be distributed
according to a lottery by those who can immediately use the item. If no
one on the raid can use the item,
then a lottery will be held for all interested in the
item for use on their alternate characters, or to sell.
No-drop items will be handled through a
lottery by those who can use them, else the item will be destroyed or
allowed to decay.
Exception to above rule: If a knight suggests a raid,
seeking a specific item, said knight will receive the first of that item that
drops.
Usually, these will be no-drop quest items, but not necessarily. The only
acceptable "requests" will be those received through the quest
officer, or through email to alsdair@tamu.edu
or sephrenia@tamu.edu
Any knight may request to host a
non-sanctioned raid. the raid will be listed on the
guild calendar, and have the same rules as a raid hosted
by an officer or guild leader.
