It's been said, "writing is a lonely business". Obviously, they know nothing about the writing community or writers in general. Since starting the Storyteller in 1996, I have discovered writers are some of the most unselfish people I've ever met. Professional writers, some well known, have worked around their own deadlines and projects to help new writers get a handle on their writing style and the publishing markets. While it is true we work alone day after day, when the opportunity arises to share knowledge, we jump at the chance and take pride in the accomplishment of those we've assisted.
This is what The Storyteller is all about. Our main objective is to assist new writers in their endeavors to become published. We answer questions, sometimes critique rejected manuscripts, inform them what editors look for, what will hurt or help them, how to set up a manuscript and what is expected of them as a writer. We are available from 10:00 a.m. (CST) to 5:00 p.m. at 870-647-2137 weekdays to answer questions.
The Storyteller is one of the few magazines whose main goal is to help new writers see their work in print. We not only want to get their work in small publications, but gracing the pages of the larger paying markets. Writing may be a lonely endeavor, but writers are a lively bunch.
The Storyteller consists of 72 pages, saddle stapled with glossy cover. It is published in March, June, September and December. The editor reserves the right to refuse any submissions deemed unsuitable for the magazine. The publisher assumes no responsibility or liability for plagiarism of the works in the magazine. All writings are presumed to be the original work of the contributing authors.
No portion of this magazine may be copied in whole or in part or distributed in any form, written or electronic without the express written permission of Fossil Creek Publishing and Regina Cook Williams as editor.

- My new Storyteller arrived in my mailbox today and I was so happy to see my story in it. I always read the magazine from one cover to the other and I always enjoy everything I read. ~ S. Roberts
- I just finished the week long Santa Barbara Writers Conference. This year, they added an "Agent Day" to the already packed schedule. I had the opportunity to sit down with three very established agents and discuss my projects. Let me tell you, it was nice to have my publishing credits with your wonderful magazine to trot out to these professionals. Two of the three were aware of The Storyteller--and one asked for my clippings. You have definitely played an integral part in helping me start my writing career. ~ J. Burford
- The quilty of the stories that you publish in The Storyteller is very high and I'm honored by your nomination of my story for the Pushcart Prize. Thank you so much. On another note, I have heard many nice comments about the "Writing on Walls" anthology. Quotes such as, "You must be very pleased to be included in such a fine anthology," "The cover on the anthology is beautiful," and much more. Congratulations for all the work you did on this. ~ P. Richardson
EDITOR'S NOTE: "Writing on Walls" the first anthology sponsored by The Storyteller is now available for purchase.

Writing on Walls, in association with The Storyteller Magazine put out a call for contest entries with money prizes and free books. We were excited and grateful for the response. Writing on Walls a 218 page collection of short stories from all walks of life is an interesting and page turning read. |
I think sometimes as I am crafting a story, sitting alone in my office with no one around, that I am simply writing on walls and like the graffiti splashed across train cars, walls in big cities and abandoned vehicles, no one is paying much attention to what I have to say.
