We are delighted to announce the appointment of Maciej Rakowski as Head Coach at Grantham Swiiming Club. He will be starting his appointment in January 2009.
Many of you may have seen him or met him in late October/November when he spent 3 days in Grantham. Maceij met a lot of the club’s volunteers, observed two training sessions, then ran a training session on the final day of his visit.
He left all who met him, including members of the committee, the coaching team, and swimmers with a very positive impression of his coaching ability and friendly personality.
I am sure you will all want to know a little about his background, so I have provided a short summary below of his experience and achievements to date;
Maceij started his coaching career in 2000, attaining his Swimming and Triathlon Coaching qualifications in the USA.
He also holds a Masters degree in Physical Education and Sport.
He has coached swimmers into the Central and Western Zone Championships in the USA, and more recently coached swimmers to 3rd and 4th places in National Age Group Championships in Poland.
He has had a number of articles published about training techniques, and is currently writing a book.
In his spare time he competes in Triathlon.
We would like to take this opportunity to thanks the dedication shown by the Coaching Team over the past few months, which has enabled the committee to find the right coach to build on the success the Club has achieved under the guidance of Sacha. We hope you will all extend to Maceij a very warm welcome.
