Mission Statement

The mission of the GroFile Project is to further "normalize" the use of cannabis, which will hopefully lead to it's legalization throughout the world. We feel the best way to accomplish this objective is to increase the quality and quantity of information readily available to those who cultivate cannabis. With the advent of the Internet, growers from around the world are able to freely exchange information. Up to this point, information exchange has been accomplished primarily through published articles and public forums. Although these methods are useful, there is room for improvement. The current methods are lacking in the ability to search for specific information. Text-based searches are not as efficient as database queries. The GroFile Project will attempt to collect information from the experiences of real-life growers and enter them into a database. By querying this database, growers will be able to view maximums, minimums, averages, and sums of any data field. The results of these queries can be displayed as text, charts, or graphs. This ability to query information, will allow growers to quickly and easily compare the results of various breeders, strains, or growing techniques. This is (and always will be) an ongoing project. As new technologies emerge, we will make every attempt to utilize them to further enhance the exchange of information.

The GroFile Project will procede in several phases:
Phase One COMPLETED
Develop a list of questions to obtain all pertinent data that may affect the quality or quantity of a crop. This will be accomplished through discussion on public forums.
Phase Two CURRENTLY WORKING
Refine the questionaire and identify individual "data fields" and "data tables".
Develop a web-based application to be known as "The GroFile Generator".
  • This application will collect information through a series of forms.
  • It will output that information (and all information calculated from it) in a "standardized format".
  • The output of the GroFile Generator will be text that can be "cut and pasted" into a post on public forums.
  • This text will contain appropriate "mark-up" that is used in the Cannabis Culture forums. Future editions may contain HTML to be used in a CC forum in which it can be utilized. This will require "special favors" from the Cannabis Culture management.
Promote the use of generated GroFiles in the CC forums in order to obtain feedback for refining the output.
Phase Three
Develop a "stand-alone" database and make it available to the general public via download.
This will most likely ba a Microsoft Access database or some other commonly available platform.
  • Using this database, define and refine a series of database queries that can/will be used to search through the data.
  • This will require a GroFile staff member to regularly collect and enter all posted GroFiles into the "current version" of this database.
Phase Four
Develop a web-based database on the Cannabis Culture Webstie.
  • This will require the cooperation of the Cannabis Culture mangement.
  • This will require "fund-raising" to offset expenses incurred by Cannabis Culture.
