Home Run: The unknown Canadian reportedly beat out 400 actors, including Ryan Phillippe, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Colin Hanks (yes, Tom’s son) to snag the ultra-coveted role of the adult Anakin Skywalker in the second and third Star Wars prequels.
Scouting Report: “He’s got the talent, and everyone knows who he is, but Star Wars has always been bigger than the people in it. Now he needs to act opposite Robert De Niro or Bruce Willis in a big studio-driven movie, where he’s one of the major stars.”
Playing the Field: “[Lucas] could have given the role to anyone,” Christensen says. “I can’t really come to terms with why he chose me, other than the fact I look like the kid [from Episode I].”
