I don’t expect that everybody likes or accept Matam as the right way
but if you going to see the Pictures be open minded and try to understand !

Why do we cry and do Matam ?

If you went through the Website you would have found the Story of KERBALA and the 12 most important Maijlis*
(*first practiced by Janabe Zainab (as) the sister of Imam Hussain(as) in Sham (Damascus, Syria ) imprisoned by the evil Yazid) .

From that time the Shia of Allah (swt), Prophet Mohammed (pbuh) and his Family (pbut) come together in remembrance of what happened in Kerbala .
Once again Kerbala was the location where Imam Hussain (as) and 72 of his companions
(including his 2 Sons : Ali Akber (as) 18 years old and Ali Asghar 6 month old) where slaughtered

- NOT MURDERED - SLAUGHTERED !!!!!

During the Maijlis we listen to our Maulana’s about Quran and what happened to our Imame (pbut).
At the end of each Maijlis we are so in mourning about the direct descendents of the holy Prophet (pbuh) that we start crying.
Every reading ends with the words Matam-E- Hussain.
At this point depending on the individual, some start beating their chest, some their head and some using Zanjeer .
This is used to show how we feel about the death of Imam Hussain (pbuh) and to show that everybody would be willing to shed his own blood for the Imam (pbuh) .

If this would be terribly wrong, those cuts would get infected like a little cut on accident, but the true miracle is : nobody needs medical attention after doing Zanjeer Matam.
