Creating A Web Page...

Right let's get down to the nitty gritty of how to create a web page of your own, firstly, you'll need to create a folder for all your web pages, I created one on my desktop for convenience, but it's entirely up to yourself where you would prefer yours smiley face

As regards to HTML coding, you first of all have to set out the basic HTML tags that are essential to every webpage for your website. These are...

<HTML>
<HEAD>
<TITLE></TITLE>
</HEAD>
<BODY>
</BODY>
</HTML>

You add those by simply opening your HTML editor, for now we'll use Notepad, if you don't know how to use the Notepad editor, please refer to my page on the use of the Notepad here.

If you already know how to use the Notepad editor, then simply add those tags inside it. Ok now you've got the essential HTML tags you may now move onto the next part, and that's adding some basic coding. At this point I would ask you to place in between both the <TITLE></TITLE> tags, a title for your page, say something like My Homepage, or what ever you prefer. This will then show up on the top bar of your browser each time your page is open. This title can be anything relating to that page, it's mainly for the benefit of your visitors and search engines, I'll go into both of those later.

I'll briefly explain what the rest of the HTML tags are for. The <HTML></HTML> are the tags that start your page and close your page of code, the <HEAD></HEAD> tags are where you place parts of javascripts & CSS inside, plus META tags which help search engines to index your pages, in order for people to find your website, I'll go into those later too. The <BODY></BODY> tags are where you place the main part of your HTML coding for your page. So you see, these are essential in all aspects in creating a webpage.
