NAME: Jacks to Open, Tripp's to Win
TYPE: Draw
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: 3-6, 7 w/small possibility of reshuffle
INITIAL DEAL: Five down cards to each player
PLAY: Played like Jackpots, with the following differences. A pair of Jacks or better are needed to open the betting (if no one can open, re-ante and re-deal). If a player opens with a bet then there is a standard betting round, draw and second betting round. (If player that opened draws cards and discards one or more of the cards comprising the required openers, player must show openers at time of draw.) If anyone has 3 of a kind or better, he says so, and the highest hand wins. If nobody claims winners, (that is, nobody has at least 3 of a kind) everyone still in may make another exchange of cards. Repeat this process (exchange, bet, check for winner) until someone wins. (This may require the reshuffling of discarded cards for the draw). The player that opened must show openers before discarding hand or at showdown.
WINNER: High hand.
VARIATIONS:
- Progressive openers- if no one can open with Jacks, next openers must be Queens, then Kings, Aces, then back to Jacks.
- Progressive Jackpot- You have to win 3 hands to win the pot.
- Add wild cards.
- Progressive Wild Cards- The first hand starts with twos being wild, with the rank of the wild card increasing by one with each hand (ie. in the fourth hand, fives are wild).
- One Draw- If openers are called there is only one exchange of cards. If there are no declared winners after the draw the hand is declared over. All cards are collected, shuffled and new hands are dealt. Anyone that drops out during the course of the game is out completely and are not able to get back into the game. (Makes for a very long game and sometimes a very large pot.)
- Penalty for bluffing the opener is usually matching the pot.

NAME: Whiskey Poker
TYPE: Draw
NUMBER OF PLAYERS: Up to 9
INITIAL DEAL: Five cards down to each player plus an extra hand down (the widow).
PLAY: Each player, beginning at the dealer's left, has three options. 1.) To exchange his hand with the Widow hand; 2.) Pass on the option to exchange cards; or 3.) "Knocking" on his pat hand. (A "knock" means that a player doesn't want to exchange any more cards, will show his present hand when it is his next turn around the table, thus signaling to the other players they have only one more opportunity to exchange cards.) When a player exchanges hands with the Widow, he places his five cards face up on the table and they become the new widow. Once this happens the players options become 1.) Exchange one (1) card or all five (5) cards with the Widow hand; 2.) Pass on the option to exchange cards; or 3.) "Knocking" on their pat hand. A player may pass on the option to exchange cards with the widow in any turn in the hopes of a better selection in the next round, but he may not pass in two consecutive turns. Players continue to exchange cards from the widow until one player knocks. If a player wishes to play his hand as is, upon his turn he signals by knocking on the table. A player cannot draw cards from the widow and "knock" immediately after his draw and once a player knocks he cannot draw anymore cards. A player may knock before the original widow is exchanged or exposed. If no one takes the widow by the time it comes around to the dealer, the dealer must either take up the widow for himself or turn it face up on the table. Even if the dealer knocks and does not take up the widow, he must expose the widow for each player to see and draw once more. Once a player knocks the betting rounds begin and the player who knocked opens with the first bet. All other players now have one last turn to exchange cards with the widow. After each player takes their turn to exchange their last cards they initiate a round of betting. When the last player opts to exchange cards, there is a final round of betting. Showdown.
WINNER: High hand.
VARIATIONS: None.
