Is the line Charles Bronson says to set up what kind of a character he is in 10 to midnight. Charles Bronson, for those who don't know, is the REAL ass kicker. Fuck these bitches that try to be bad ass, they don't hold a candle to Bronson. And in this film he proves that he can still kick some ass, no matter how bad things get for Bronson, he always seems to make his own law. The story for this creepy thriller that manages to get under your skin at some points is....
Leo Kessler (Charles Bronson) is a "takes no shit" cop who does things his way. So when a double homocide happens and it turns out to be a friend of his daughter's, he makes it personal. Warren Stacy (Gene Davis) doesn't take to rejection very well, in fact, when he gets turned down, instead of being a man and sucking it up. He kills them and makes them pay for there crime (Geez, talk about a bad breaker-upper) Kessler and his partner get on Warren's trail but with his iron tight allabye he can't be touched. So when Leo's daughter becomes the target of this mad man's sick and twisted obsession, will Leo break the law to protect his daughter? Or will this madman be able to continue to hack and slash his victims...
From the hilarious one-liners that Charles lets loose, to the solid story and hard core performances pulled off by the whole cast, 10 to Midnight is well worth my time and money. I have seen it a few times, and I remember the lame version they showed on TV with ruined the whole movie. Because they altered the scenes so there was no nudity, it makes it impossible for the film to be accurate. The one thing I didn't like was Gene Davis being NUDE through out this film. I mean I can understand that he doesn't want to get any blood or evidence on his clothes but...did we REALLY need all the ass shots?!?!
Well, fear not you homophobes, for 10 to Midnight not only has something for the honeys, it also has TONS of T&A...(Keep in mind, this IS a Charles Bronson film we are talking about here!) So there is something for the whole family...well....sorta. Now the gore on the other hand ISN'T there...it tends to keep us away from any gratuitous gore. Which this film isn't really about but I felt that in some scenes it could have used it very badly! But there is still enough excitement and the solid storyline is what keeps you involved in this film.
Charles Bronson does his best at doing what he does best....He is always good and he will ALWAYS be the best ass kicking, mean, selfish son of a bitch to ever hold a .33 Magnum! The entire cast did a great job but it was Gene Davis that shines, his scenes were intense and I am surprised his career never went anywhere. He did a solid performance in this film! The directing is pretty good, I thought it wouldn't have killed Thompson to actually put in a creative angle but...what ya gonna do?
The DVD itself came in a Bronson 4-pack but this film is worth the dough (9.99 regulary) although the features suck and there is nothing more then some trailers, the picture quality is so good for a film this old that it kicks those minute details out the window. The film sounded pretty good to but nothing like I was hoping, but still...it was pretty damn good.
I say, if you find this film ANYWHERE, check it out! You won't be disappointed by the creepy nature that this film has packed into it. It is a shame that they aren't making movies like this anymore, oh no, now if it doesn't have 4 characters that are completely computer generated, then nobody will watch it. Lazy fucking bastards....
