Ahhh, where else can you get all the gore, sex, comedy and old 60's music in one film? Where else but An American Werewolf in London! This film is great, I love it and the special effects are so fucking realistic, it makes any CGI shit look like what it is...SHIT! Here is the story,
While hitchhiking, David Kessler and his best friend Jack Goodman are attacked by a werewolf. Jack is killed, but David survives. 3 weeks pass until David finally awakens in a London hospital to find that his best friend is dead. David knows a wolf attacked his friend but no one will believe him. He ends up having nightmares about his family being killed, and him hunting in the woods. David informs Dr. Hirsch about the dreams and insists on the wolf attack, but Hirsch thinks he is making it up cause of the traumatic expierence he just had. David gets kind of close with Nurse Alex Price, so close in fact that once released, he is bunking with her at her apartment. But Jack just wont stay dead, he keeps coming back and telling David that he is one of the undead, a soul trapped in a state of limbo till the werewolf's blood line is severed. Which means David has to die in order for Jack to be set free. But Jack also warns David that in 2 days, the moon will be full and that he will turn into a werewolf and kill. Course David doesn't believe his walking corpse of a friend, and ends up transforming and killing 6 people. I don't want to give the ending away but it was felt like the film just got cut short. Like in the middle of a scene it ends sorta, I can't really explain it but I know you have all probably seen it.
This film is best known for the wolf transformation scene, which I still say to this date, not have I seen such a realistic transformation ever. When you watch this, even though this film came out in 1981, it still is mind boggling how they did it!
I say, if you haven't already, BUY THIS FILM! Fuck renting it, RENTING IS FOR SISSIES!!! This film is a classic piece of horror, but also, if you enjoyed this film, the closest thing to it (besides the sequel) would have to be the Howling series, the transformation scene in the first was incredible to, even though the werewolves looked like over grown bunny rabbits with there gigantic ears, it was still very good.
