It's 1987, and Psycho II has been out for 4 years but the makers of this spin-off seemed not to care. Yes folks, there is a reason you have never heard of a movie called "Bates Motel" and it is because...it was lame. It starts off good, but ends up being pure shit in the end. Nothing more then a cheesy way to cash in on the Alfred Hitchcock franchise.
1960, Norman Bates has been found guilty and is put into a mental institute where he ends up bonding with a boy named Alex West. Alex has gone through a similar thing with his mother and has bonded with Norman. 27 years pass and Norman Bates dies (funny how things work seeing as how 22 years after Norman was released and a small film called PSYCHO II happened) and leaves the Bates motel and house to Alex. But under one condition, Alex runs it and makes it a nice enjoyable place to stay.
The beginning is good but by the end, where he is running the motel, it gets dumb. The worst part of all is the fact that they messed up the factor of it isn't supposed to be a fucking twilight zone/the Outer Limits TV SHOW! But that is what they aimed for, this film's ending was dragged out, slow, boring and lame as hell.
I say, this is a must for any psycho fan, but if your not a fan, you wont become one by watching this film. You can see how half of the facts are fucked up and are completely wrong. So keep the No Vacancy sign running when you come to see this and don't bother checking out the Bates Motel.

" Now I can see why Perkins never signed on to do this film, because it would have killed his chances of landing any new business at the Motel! Yeah mommy I want to go to a place where ghosts HELP me and 34 people dress up in the 50's!"
