Step right up, step right up to the amazing FREAK SHOW! See the 625 pound woman Athena, see a bunch of dancing midgets and of course...Tara...the WOLF GIRL! This movie was extremely good, it was hard as hell to get because Blockbuster had only 1 copy. The instant I saw the box, with the name Tim Curry on it, I knew I HAD to see it. Now, there was some trouble getting a picture and your all problably wondering why the name on the photo is different from the name I have at the top. Well, the movie I rented is called "Blood Moon" but everywhere else it seems to be called "Wolf Girl" so... But this film had midgets galore, freaks everywhere, and Athena, the 625 pound woman who never gets up off her 300 pound butt. Let's see the story shall we?
Harley Dune (Tim Curry) runs a traveling freak show that pulls into town and sets up in the woods. Harley is like a father to all of the freaks, for he is the only one, when the world slammed the doors in there faces, he opened his door to them. Tara is a girl who looks like a wolf for she is covered in hair from head to toe. She is the attraction called the wolf girl, the main attraction. When 4 teenage little shits come and see her, they make bets on who can embarrass her the most.
Ryan Klein is a teen who is hated by everyone else, he is an outcast and he isn't strong willed at all. He goes out of his way to help Tara in this film, because she is an outcast just like him. Ryan's mother works for a company that is trying to make a cosmetic to do away with hair in unwanted spots. But it is still experimental, not all of the side effects are known as of yet. Ryan give it to her through a needle and that night, she loses some hair but it does have side effects, she has violent hallucinations, bigger appetite, and severe headaches, the more doses she takes the worse it gets untill she begins to take these hallucinations into reality...
This movie was a very good movie, Tim Curry is good as always, and Victoria Sanchez played a great Wolf Girl, another cast member that stood out was Dov Tiefenbach, he was EXCELLENT as Ryan Klein. This film was very good, and it doesn't sport the stereotypical "You were bit by a werewolf so now you are on" motive. It had me GLUED to the screen through out, I just wished it had a happier ending :( I wont say anything but it left me sad at the end :'(
I say, if you are in the mood for a really good movie with freaks of all kinds, check this film out. It is a great buy and it wont leave you hanging like most other films. But if you like this film, check out Gingersnaps, another werewolf movie that was pretty good. "And now...THE WOLF GIRL!"
