Reviews of the Tops Heads

Editors Note: I did not write this article. For questions/comments regarding this article, Email the Author.

There are many lacrosse sticks out there on the market, such as the Phantom, the Proton, the Edge, the Blade....etc. Is there a best one? No, its all your preference. However, a few things that factor into what stick is right for you is the position, your role, and the feel you want. I am going to be reviewing a few of the best sticks on the market.

THE PROTON

This head from STX, is probably one of the more popular heads on the market today. One of the original canted designs, the proton is a best-seller. It is pretty stiff for defense, yet it is generally more of an attack/middie stick although it is used for defensemen. You don't tend to see many face-off guys using it, although they do sometimes. The first time I tried the proton, it was with a mesh pocket. It was great. The proton is one of the lighter sticks out there, and one of the more durable ones as well.

THE EDGE

The Edge is by far one of the most popular sticks ever made. Made by brine, it was one of the originators for offset sticks, which are in most players bags today. The edge is one of the most durable heads you can get. It is excellent for attack, middies, defensemen, and face off guys. It is pretty light, although it keeps its stiffness. It is probably the stick that changed the game. The edge is one of those sticks that once you use it, you won't want to change sticks. However, you either love it, or you don't. I personally think this is one of the best heads on the market.

THE REVOLUTION

The revolution is one of my favorite heads. Used by many in the MLL, and Div.1, 2, and 3 college lacrosse, the revolution is an offest head made by warrior. It is lightweight and durable. Many people I know like to use it for Midfield and Defense. It is very popular face off head around my area. Some of the better players, like Tom Glatzel and David Ulrich like to use it. Others in the MLL, such as Greg Traynor use it also. All in all, the revolution is a top head on the market.

THE BLADE

The blade has been made popular by one of the best players in the world, Casey Powell. The blade is not a defensive stick, and it is not made for face offs either. It is an attackmen's stick and it is probably one of the best too. Very lightweight, but not very stiff at all. I was throwing around with it, and it felt like it could snap easily. If you're an attackmen who has money to spend, go with the Blade.
