When We Ran To The Shires And Walked Back Home Slowly    PHOTOS

For once in Spock and my lives we actually left on time, I feigned sickness from work….um, so please don’t tell otherwise my rally days are numbered.  With an Escort full of children reluctant to go and a boot full of tent stuff, beer and vodka…(had to throw out a few pairs of socks to make room for the essentials), we set off for the Ukrainian Youth Camp on the outskirts of Derby. The journey was long and tedious made even more compelling with moans of “Are we there yet!” But the Macca lad’s “20 pints of Boddingtons” and pear drops made it a little more bearable!! After 4½ hours on interesting motorway, we came off the M1 and drove up the A6 and that’s when Spock asked me to put me navigational head on….oh!! Fortunately the gods helped my crap map reading skills, for hundreds of scooterists appeared from no-where and we followed behind. Yes! Yes! And Yes.

We arrived around 6ish and headed for the Chapel, feeling relieved that we had made it, the kids hadn’t killed each other and we were about to set free the vodka!! We were greeted by our ii buddies and DMs kindly assisted in helping us silly girls put up our very old fashioned tent up. (Note to myself: must by a copy of practical camping).  Dunny also asked whether we needed any assistance but the tent had already been standing for 10 minutes…thanks mate!!  However in his defence, he and Spy did play an outstanding game of skillful footy with our boyz…to be honest it was breath-taking…coz 10 minutes later both the big boyz from Leicester had to rest for a while and for a lil while longer actually!! Then we headed for the do and this is when things go quite dark for me.  I believe I may have drunk a little too much vodka, but I know I had an excellent time. The music was brilliant and we danced, drank, spoke to peeps, made new friends, drank and then staggered around a lot wearing our scary faces! (Please see photos).  I believe that a band played music and that we were escorted back to the chapel around 4am, because the birds were talking to us again!! Then everyone settled down in their tents to get some shut-eye, unfortunately our drunken children didn’t wish to do that and set about entertaining us all!!…Till DMs shouted and for five minutes we had peace and quiet!!

Saturday was a perfect day, the sun shone, Dunny flexed his muscles and did press-ups in his undie pantz. The camp already packed with people began to fill up even more and not much grass could be seen, apart from on Spock’s head as she sported a very fashionable hayhair look and she accessorised this look with a vibrant red nose n chin….lol, bless!! As the day progressed things just got better and better, the bungee pull was hysterical and a big thank you goes out to the VFM for organising such a great rally! Things did not get better in the ladies toilets though!! Pheweeeeeee.  We didn’t see much of our children, they were in their element, they were free to do whatever they liked, not much difference from at home then, except Dunny took them to the pub (thank you), we never take them. Yet again, Saturday night was fun, bands played and we pretended to play air double bass, much to the amazement of the man standing next to us!!  We also talked bout how many nice looking men there were and how we like being around them mad people from up North!!  I later lost Spock and Dms and took Anna back to the tent around 11.30, Kel and Olly were giggling hysterically on one side of me (I wonder why?) and the lads form Brewers were larfing and being very rude on the other!! Went back to the do at I don’t know wot time, drank more and more coke only (if ya believe this ya a muppet!) and wondered what had happened to Dunny.  I recall from the afternoon that he had scheduled to change his undies at 4pm, maybe he forgot to bring anuvver pair coz we never saw him again….Dunny “Ya Missed A Bloody Great Nite!!”
Then came Sunday and with it feelings of sadness, knowing that we have to go back home.  We said our good-bye’s and sat round for ages watching people pack up and leave…! But wait a minute…rallies come, they go, but there’s always the next.  And that’s what keeps us going knowing that every few weeks we all get to meet up and be with our spesh friends again.  We drove back to Gravesend happy and relaxed.  Spock was so relaxed that she fell asleep for a little while, but behind those dark glasses she wears, who is to know.  When the kids said that they didn’t want to go back home either and wished to live in Rally World forever, we knew that the weekend had been a big success. Oh and we sat for another hour and a half in a jam on the M25, but we didn’t care…the trucker in the lane next to us provided some very nice scenery!!  Big ii to all the ii’s xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
