MIAMI DOLPHINS 49 DETROIT LIONS 21
If you looked at the 2002 Detroit Lions at this point in the season you would say that they look and play exactly like the 2001 Detroit Lions and when the 2001 Lions finished 2-14 that isn't a good thing, And to say that the Lions look like last years team after week one isn't a good thing either. All this was proved on Sunday when the Detroit Lions took on the Miami Dolphins in Miami,.
The first game for the Lions in 2002 opened in Miami Florida against the revitalized Miami team mainly because of Ricky Williams and a good offensive line. Everyone expected Ricky to run over everyone and rack up a ton of yards and he didn't disappoint as he scored the first Touchdown of the game with 3:13 gone in the game before this the Lions and the Dolphins both punted the ball on there drives. On the Detroit Lions next drive. The lions didn't make a first down and ended up punting. The second score of the game once again came from Miami but it wasn't pleasant to look at as the Dolphins punted and it hit Cash and the Dolphins recovered the ball and got a Touchdown from it. Once against the Lions punted, And once again the Dolphins scored on a 16 yard pass from Quarterback jay Fiedler. On the Lions next drive it finally happened they scored As Mike McMahon went to do it himself he ran up the gut 2 yards and in for the score. that made it 27-7. The next score came from the Dolphins in the last 2 minutes of the third quarter on a 9 yard pass from Fiedler. On the next Lions drive Mike McMahon was intercepted by B. Marion which was returned to around the 2 yard line before he was pushed out of bounds. Then Ricky Williams ran the ball in for the score. The Lions and Dolphins both were forced to punt on there following drives and then Mike McMahon completed a pass to Warren which led to a Detroit Score making the current score 41-14 Miami. Jay Fiedler once again scored with a short pass. then Edwards ran the ball in for another score shortly after Joey Harrington was brought in for the Lions next drive and he led the Lions down field then C.Schlesinger ran the ball in for the score that was how the game finished with a final score of 49-21 Miami.
The Detroit Lions didn't look like the best team but there is a shine of light as I can see they just need a break and they then will be away and winning Hopefully that break will come next weekend at the 1-0 Carolina Panthers.
Game Ball - Miami Dolphins Ricky Williams ( Ricky had a great season opener and put everyone at bay about his talents he has shown a lot more than what he showed into he past few seasons in New Orleans he also just seems happier in his game. And so he should be with 2 touchdowns and 111 yards rushing on the day so my game ball goes to Ricky)
Team Grade - D ( I have given the Lions a grade D for there performance on Sunday because it was sloppy and overall not very good although there is room for improvement and I am sure they will do)
