From time out of mind, those folk who were lucky enough to become bonded to a Keltoi have garded the humans under there care. These bonded - Keltoi and their human counterparts - are the lawkeepers, the judges, healers, informers, and soldiers. They do everything save for rule the world. This is not a part of thier natures. In the past milennia they have allowed the hereditary rulers, the Aristo class, to rule Lorna as they please - within the realm of reason.

But that time has passed.

Before the legends, before the myth, before the truth passed out of memory, there were no Bonded folk. The exceptional humans, of the type who would now be searched out by the Drakes, lived and died feeling incomplete. They knew they had something - a spark if you will... but that spark was not ignited. It was not until the Lornes traveled across the oceans and discovered the lands of the Keltoi was that spark brought to life. The Aristos loved the land for it's timber, for it's wealth. They could not hear the "animals" speak - they did not understand that they were different from the weaker, magedead animals of their homelands. The Keltoi did not feel threatened by the boats, the weapons. Humans were different from most animals, but the Keltoi saw that they had no magic, no spark... until the Aristo sons sent for thier retainers. Among the best and the brightest were the folk who would, eventually, become the Bonded. They had the spark... and the Keltoi were amazed. They had no respect for the Aristos, the leaders - for they felt that they had no right to lead. The Aristos had no magic, no spark, no true honor.

So there was a compromise.

A huge delegation of Keltoi were sent to the human continent, along with all of the Aristos and thier retainers. In return, the Kelti-gra [as the Keltoi called the humans with the spark] were permitted to stay accross the sea. During this process, it was discovered that teenaged humans could bond with young Keltoi. This bonding boosted the alrady formidable inteligence of the Keltoi, and [It was later discovered] vastly extended the life of the Bonded Keltoi. It also greatly enhanced the telepathic and empathetic abilities of the Bonded Humans. It also enhances the human's night sight. In addition, the Keltoi act as catalysts for the human's natural talents... though... the Wyverns do a bit more than that. You see... the Wyverns are magic. They can shift thier size, and they are the Keltoi largely responsable for detecting the 'spark' that humans have. They can do more than that... but now is not the time.

As time went by, the bonded began to feel isolated from their peers. The heads of the Aristo clans began to feel increasingly nervous about the powers that the bonded's own self-respect demanded they use at times - and the women, the much-loved Drakes, were being hounded by many of the Aristo males. So, the bonded folk withdrew to the mountains, and built a castle to rival that of the richest Aristo Lord. Rather, the Wyverns built the castle. Or, as they called it, the Hall. During ths time, the Teleportation Discs were invented. The Bonded folk had one installed outside of their great Hall, which further helped them keep thier location secret. Thier precautions were not in vain.

The Bonded folk had been a huge benifit to the people they dealt with. They were fair, and they were healers, among other things. They allowed no wrong to occur within range of themselves, and they often defended those who needed it. When the removed themselves to the BondHall, this did not change. They unanimously decided to travel around their world using the Teleportation Discs, helping out people - and earning trade goods and marks [$]. Filled with jealousy and hatred for the "usurpers" of power, the Aristos jointly banned all the Bonded Folk from thier territories, not allowing any of the Keltoi to help thier people. They branded them as evil, and spread rumors to support this. The Bonded folk revolted, and there was war. The war lasted for a long time, and it was horrendous... but the skills and abilities imparted and shared between the Bonded folk helped them win. After the war was over, the bonded were disgusted with it all. They forced the Aristos into a pact. The Bonded would be given free passage anywhere in the realms. They would be granted immunity to laws [This was later changed. There will be a "Teachings" in the future explaining the whys and hows of it], and be allowed to pass judgement on anyone. They would not be hunted, and thier decisions, when sought out and in public, would be final. In return, they would be impartial, they would not continue to massacre the Aristos, and they would not interefere with their rule.
