Lorna's Laws
You may not rape another entity -> Punishable by death. If the reason is due to insanity or impairment, a duel may happen instead (first blood or death is accuser's choice).
You may not kill another entity in any place or method other than during a duel, in self defense or defense of a realitive (or member of a TG - it amounts to the same thing) or with thier consent (assisted suicide is legal with the consent of a drake) -> Punishable by life-long incarceration or death, depending on the situation.
You may not assalt another entity. -> Punishable by fine, and almost always results in a duel.
You may not steal from another entity. -> Fine of 150% of the worth of the item along with the item. A red mark which glows and does not fade for two seasons is marked on the offender's left hand.
You must pay your tithes. If there is a problem with the year's amount, discuss it with the aristo you tithe to and the nesxt bonded you see. But pay the tithe if you can -> a fine. of 50% of the tithe and the actual tithe. if you can't pay it, incarceration is the result. [NOTE if the bonded feel as a whole that th earistos are overcharging, then they will bring the aristo's tithe down. they're fair about it.]
Note: This tithe is essentially an Income Tax. As the bonded live on donations and the kindness of the guilds, they don't tithe. The guilds get a deductable for supporting the bondfolk, but pay thier tithe split between the houses as they do not have a ruling lord.
Dueling Laws
A Bonded may not call for a duel to the death. In such a case, the duel is rendered null and void.
Choice of Weapon belongs to the challenged.
Killing duing a First Blood Match will not be tolerated.
If killing is deemed accidental, the punishment is as follows: The depends of the deceased must be supported until the death, or [in the case of minors] until their score is achieved.
If killing is deemed intentional, the punishment is as follows: Unfading Blue Mark & Incarceration or Death, at Bonded Observer's descretion.
Inflicting additional wounds in a First Blood Match will not be tolerated. If additional wounds are influcted, the inflictor will carry a blue mark on their right cheekbone for three years.
You may not commit dishonorable acts (attack while other's back is turned, mess up the other person's weapon) during a duel -> If said act results in the death of the opponent, the act is punishable by death. If not, a heavy fine and a blue mark which does not fade for three years.
Reasons for a Duel: Insult, Assalt, Percieved Threat, Someone did something to you or a family member [Depends on what. Bondfolk Descretion.]
Note: Winning a duel does not mean that you were in the right. Conversely, losing does not mean you were in the wrong. A duel is called merely so that the person insulted can gain "satisfaction" [An old term, used in the OOC old english sense.]
