Metriod Prime  By Kraid

Background Info

With the huge success of Metriod and Super Metriod, fans of the five-star series pleaded to Nintendo for a sequel. Skipping the Nintendo 64, the Metriod series has finally landed on the Gamecube. The question everyone was asking was, "How will Metriod Prime turn out when it is in full 3D?" All the past Metriod games were side-scrolling, two dimensional games. Metriod Prime is fully 3D. The answer to everyone’s question is that Metriod Prime has revolutionized 3D as we know it, and has raised the standards for what an excellent game should be.

Gameplay   9.6

Awesome story line, thrilling, deep and very interesting. Anyone who has ever bragged about Halo having the best storyline can just stop bragging. Metriod Prime also flows very good and teaches you accurately how to play the game.

Control   9.5

The controls are simple, but may take a short time to get used to. After a little while, you wont even notice you are holding a controller and the controls will come to you naturally. That's a sign that a game has good controls. This way, you can concentrate on the game, not on the controls.

Sound   10.0

The most coolest, perfect songs for the mood of the game. Right off the bat, on the title screen you hear a weird high pitched arrangement of melodies. The music just simply fits the games Si-Fi atmosphere. The ending theme is simply a classic. Besides music, the thumping of feet, wheezing of wind, impact of bullets can all be heard while playing. When the pace picks up, noises get louder, music goes faster, and it all blends into a perfect mix.

Graphics   9.8

Environments are huge and greatly detailed. Every aspect of this game is in detail, but the graphics stick out the most. Beautifully rendered enemies and monsters blur the line between video games and real life. The reflection off of Samus’s suits and metal surfaces are amazing. All reflections are in real time. This game is one of the most beautiful games on Gamecube, or in that case, it’s the best looking game on any system

Overall   9.7

An instant classic. ‘Nuff said.
