Our History
Poly Stage Production (PSP) was formed in 1988 as
the Stage Production under the Literary and Debating Club (LDC) to provide lights &
sound support for many functions and stage performances when LT 26 was converted to the NP
Cultural Theatre.
PSP played an important role in the formation of the Poly Stage f'Actor (PSF), NP's
English drama group, in 1990. PSP was behind the scene, seeing to the lights and
sound...as sister PSF took to the stage. Other than PSF, PSP also works closely with
another sister Debating Unit in supporting the lights and sound for its matches and
presentations.
The name of Stage Production was refined to Poly
Stage Production in 1992 to reflect its importance in the stage performances on campus.
The high point for PSP in 1996 was the staging of Emil Chow Campus Concert at The Octagon
on campus, and also the Andy Lau Campus Concert. PSP has also done alot of other campus
concerts such as Jeff Chang, Zhang Hui Mei, Power Station, Karen Mok, Tarcy Hsu,
WuYinLiangPin and many more. To this day PSP continues to work closely with various
recording companies and radio stations to bring regular concerts to the campus. [View
photos being taken in various campus concerts under the ' Photos' section.]
PSP added the NP's Student Karaoke to its portfolio in 1996. PolyK, specially for
student's recreation comes with a very current collection of LDs and VCDs -- with new
albums added every month. Charges are also very reasonable. [Find out more from the '
Services' section regarding our PolyK.]
In 1999, PSP organised the first and ever NgeeAnn Polytechnic Karaoke Competition, which
attracted more than 300 participants. The 2nd NgeeAnn Polytechnic Karaoke Competition was
being organised in consecutive year and managed to draw great attention of 300 participant
for auditions and 1500 audience on the final night itself. It was a great and successful
event of the year.
PSP has gained recognition all
over Ngee Ann Polytechnic through various events. To reflect it's growth and development,
PSP has developed its very own club logo for easier identification. This logo is designed
by PSP previous Vice-President, Lincoln Sim(who is currently the DJ of UFM 1003), in 1996. The oval disc shape symbolises the
unity of PSP's members to make every concert and stage performance a success. PSP looks
forward to bringing more activities to Ngee Ann and make campus life enriching for all at
Ngee Ann.
