Supah Mario's Shockwaves, Edition 1.
Title: Things To Look For.
Ey yo.
[Flicks toothpick.]
We're gonna have a little survey.
Well okay, not really, but it seemed like a good way to grab your attention. Right now
is a damn good time to be a wrestling fan for several reasons. First, you have the
roster split that, judging by this week's edition of RAW, the WWF seems to actually
be taking seriously.
Although it isn't a true sense of competition, it provides the feel and allows more
deserving wrestlers to get the time that they deserve in order to showcase their
talent. In two hours, we've already seen the elevation of Bubba Ray Dudley as a
singles wrestler and the pushing of Bradshaw into the grand scheme of things.
Things seem to be running smoothly in the WWF, at least for now, but...
As much potential as it has, the roster split isn't the only reason for wrestling fans to be excited.
There's also a website being launched that is sure to revolutionize the way
we get wrestling news. Let me tell you this, I'm good friends with the founders
of this site and the amount of work that they've been putting into this website
is incredible. For months now, they spent hours each day making sure the
layout is as easy to navigate as it is appealing to the eyes. In my opinion, they've
done all that and more.
Yeah, the visual aspects of a site is important -- but it doesn't mean jack if the
site is filled with garbage. Without mentioning names, that's exactly what the
majority of today's wrestling sites compose of. Fancy designs with lackluster
content. It's quite sickening to read the same mindless sheep riding McMahon's
jock like it were a mechanical bull. To each their own I guess, but the columnists
here at Pro Wrestling Heat don't bother with that. That being said, we're also not one
of those websites that have a blind hatred for anything and everything WWF.
If we like it, we'll sure as hell tell you. If something sucks, we'll tell you exactly
why it sucks.
The founders at Pro Wrestling Heat have acquired numerous sources within
the industry that will ensure that you receive the late-breaking news that you
fiend for. I'm not talking about "D'Lo broke a nail"... but down and dirty news
that you probably have no business hearing.
Besides, if this isn't enough to convince you that Pro Wrestling Heat is the
hottest site of the 'net, let me announce that it's also the new, exclusive
home of Supah Mario's Shockwaves --the hottest weekly column ever
written.
Alright, enough of the plugging ... this isn't a damn commercial. Let's get
on with the article.
---------------------
Title: Things To Look For.
With the roster split being official and both sides being clearly established, let
me tell you the things I thought were smart decisions, and things that I felt
sucked.
We'll call this, the Good, the Bad, and the Ugly.
The Good
Brock Lesnar - I was never able to figure out what the hell the WWF was
waiting for by keeping him off TV for so long. Now that answer is clear. With
the exception of Goldberg, I can't think of any _new_ wrestler having as much
as an immediate impact as Lesnar is having right now. In two weeks time, we've
seen him obliterate DDP, dismantle Rikishi, and destroy the Hardy Boyz. This
man is a monster. He's a legitimate athlete, too, capturing the NCAA Heavyweight
Wrestling Championship twice. The only possible flaw I can think of with Brock
is his lack of mic. skills. A problem? Hardly, as the WWF takes us back to the
1980s with the re-introduction of the male manager. Stay away from the repetition
of the word "Gore!" and Heyman is as good as they come on the mic.
Splitting up the APA - Face it fellas, as much as we enjoyed the beer swilling
and bar room brawls, this angle has ran its course. They got the tag belts and
never really drew the reaction as champions. Hell, the crowd seemed to only
care for them when they were playing poker in the back. A split does both of
their careers justice. Bradshaw's on RAW, where he'll assist Kane and Austin
in battling the nWo. Faarooq's on Smackdown and in the best shape of his
life. Also, I see D-Von and Mark Henry on Smackdown as well. Nation of
Domination V. 2.0 anyone? Could be a possibility.
Burying the cruiserweight division - Can anyone tell me: Does X-Pac still
hold one of the belts? What about that small japanese dude who spit out
food coloring? I can't seem to remember his name ... Well that's a lie but
with Tajiri being on TV as often as a women winning the presidency, I wouldn't
be surprised if most fans forgot all about him. Wake up WWF. Look at your
damn roster. Eddy, Rey, Crash, Kidman, Tajiri, Hurricane and Spike. That's a solid cruiser division and those are just the ones I came up with off the top of my head. TAKA's almost ready to come back as well. WWF Cruiser Division: a good Idea? Indeeeeeeeeeed.
The Bad
D-D-D-D-D-Dudley Boyz Dismantled? Sheeyit, this was a bad idea. They're the
best damn tag team on the WWF roster, not saying much I know, but they should not have been split up. Bubba Ray has too limited of mic. skills to make it big and well, D-Von's gonna need alot of character buildup to take it to the next level. Unless they continue to develop as characters, it's hardcore division for life. Please, bring back the NoD and throw D-Von in there... because until a major change like that, he's just a tag wrestler without a partner. I admit that the team grew a bit still, but splitting them up is
a much more drastic move than what was needed -- A face turn.
Not Splitting Up Team Extreme - Occasionally, they'll put on good matches... but Jeff Hardy's stock plummeted the say Rob Van Dam signed a WWF contract. Team Extreme is extremely stale and way too one-dimensional to be salvaged by a heel
turn. Character development? We know nothing about these guys other than the fact that Jeff is a Dennis Rodman fan and that Matt has a tendency to scream. Alot. Really, he should get that checked out. Anyways, Jeff should've went to RAW to feud with RVD. Matt, the better mat (no pun intended) wrestler of the two should've went to Smackdown where he could've put on potential classics with Storm and Benoit. Lita? She should've went to RAW, where she would forget all about Matt and become Raven's significant other in the revival of The Flock.
Putting the Bossman on TV - Who books this crap? Seriously, Bossman has no business being in a wrestling ring any longer. He's a horrid worker with a horrid
character. Teaming him with Mr. Perfect is a waste of a potential IC Title contender (Hennig, of course). Please, get his flabby ass of my television and give his TV Time
to some more deserving talent. Randy Orton, anyone?
The Ugly
Jazz -- Take a good look at that face, unless of course, you plan to sleep within the next few... years.

Anyways, this was the first edition of Supah Mario's Shockwaves. Bookmark this
site and be sure to check back next week as I rant about whatever happens to be
on my mind.
Here would be the part where I'd tell you to take care of yourselves, but quite honestly, I prefer to be entertained.
