The Naval School was instituted in the year 45 in an effort to unify command education and to produce better leaders at sea. The lower Section or Blue Section teaches NCO's and the Upper section the White Section teaches Officer candidates. Both sections went through years of trial and error before quality leaders became the standard that it is today.

The naval school is a fearsome environment meant to push young leaders to the very brink while teaching them all they need to learn about sea. Stories are told of graduating cadets being unflappable in battle, commenting that it is calmer then the Parade Ground at the Point. It has earned a reputation for producing usable and effective leaders that are an asset as soon as they stop on board.

It is not until the last year of the White Section students that they learn that type of social graces needed by an officer. Several social functions are held leading up to the Graduation ceremony in the fall.

Though not that old the school is well loved by the Navy who embraced it from the start and the traditions here are strong. The public loves to watch the parading cadets and Cadets are treated well by the public at the point.
