With the influx of people into Amber after the OSW, a wave of disease started to spread througout the city. Before they could even be approached by the fledgleing Golden Court, the same battle-weary doctors and technicians who had worked on the fronts came to Amber to help relieve the city and the peoples of Amber from this new threat that no sword or army could contain. Over time, the hospital tents were converted to small buildings which made way for even larger hospitals. Many who intern at the Aesgard hospital are required to perform residencies in less fortunate Golden Court and Outshadow provinces. This not only prepares them well for their future, but also is one of the best-gestures of good-will that one can send to any shadow, for who can refuse free and good medical care? Many Golden Court representatives keep an eye out for the best medical students with an aim to recruit them for their own shadows. The Hospice is now as large as it can possibly get in the crowded Gate District, and is looking for other places to expand, and many of the noble families and neighborhood districts are beginning to gear up for political fighting to see that the hospital creates new clinics in their districts.
