Description: If all roads lead to Amber then all roads in Amber lead to the Merchant district. The noisy bustling trade center of Amber filled not only with trade stores and shops of all times but street performers and musicians. This District is over crowded in the day and almost vacant at night save for a few busy supply houses making deliveries to restock depleted shelves. Anything you want in the GC can be bought or bartered for here. Large warehouses and a dozen open air markets bring Amber everything in the GC.

Type of Homes: The Merchant District is the least populated district as far as residence. There are many merchant home/stores here but over all most come to the district to work or buy while a few live there. There are many Inns for travelers An interesting structure is the rounder buildings, build in the many roundabouts.

Type of Roads: Tight narrow roads here that seem to magnify the effects of the crowds and noise. There is also a network of bridges between the roofs of most building in Merchant District. Here the locals and supplier can move about avoiding the mob from the street bellow. The locals are very particular about the use of the skyway not even the constables have access to this well watched network.

Make up of people: The people of the Merchant district come in two flavors, very and very poor. The locals keep to their high rise flop houses and the Skyways during the day. Traveling through the heart of the trade areas and you would hardly know that anyone lives there at all. This district has an anything goes atmosphere and is very tolerant of different ideas and products. They are a people used to change and new things and are quick to adapt.

History: One of the oldest districts in Amber. Nothing has changed here since the time of Oberon. Many times in the past there has been conflict between the poor who live and work here and the Merchants but there seems to be a strange sort of symbiotic relationship between the two. The merchants see that everyone is fed, clothed and educated and the "Residence" work, keep watch on the Skyway and the shops and most of all leave the buyers alone.

The Merchants are notorious peace makers getting down right testy in the face of War. No matter how righteous a war is they always end up paying more tax's, loosing trade with some one or having trade lanes raided. They just do not believe it is worth the risk. There have been near riots in this district when wars have erupted in the past. Once thought to be an extent of the anti-RBL feelings it is clear now that they just want things to stay the same.

Current Information: The District is in the grips of rebuilding it's antiquated sewer system that has caused several skirmishes between the city workers and the "Residence" Although everyone wants better water and a more modern sewer system the merchants hate having there shops blocked for months on end. The Merchants have made sure the "Residents" aid them in their quest to avoid construction on their block. So far the constables have one a few and lost a few fights with the locals.
