Description: With the massive increase in trade coming into Amber the rebuilding of the old Silver district created the Newport district. Here massive long new docks are able to unload and load massive amounts freight and goods. This whole sale district is a land of massive markets and large storage houses. This is also the home of many large gambling halls and casino's. Here people from all over the GC come to lay their bets.
Type of Homes: The homes here are mostly tall and thin townhouse type structures.
Type of Roads: The Roads here are extra wide to accommodate the traffic load and made of the new Kolvir Tile. The Lay out of the roads is orderly and rational more so then any other district in the old Amber. Here the roads are busy most of the days and nights with trade and gambling traffic.
Make up of people: This are is a growing merchant class and upper middle class district that is made up mostly of long time Amber families. You will find a broad spectrum of people living here tending mostly towards upper middle and merchant class. There is many though who are not so well off. The dock workers and shop workers who live here are noticeably worse off but keep to them selves. Also present at many hock shops and a few flop houses where the down on their luck
History: The Silver district was horribly damaged by a surprise attack during the OSW. Unable to be saved it was looted burned and destroyed. The effort to rebuild was slow in coming. It was not repaired piece meal instead it was tore down laid out anew and rebuild from the roads up.
Since then it has slowly began to eclipse the old merchant district as the center of trade. Here though it is mostly whole sale or bulk sales of common goods. The building of the Cathedral in Newport district has only served to feed the ego of the people who live there who see it as proof that they are the place to live in Amber.
Much to the surprise of Amber and the shock of the residence great gambling halls also moved into this newly constructed district. By focusing on a road soon to be called "Casino Row" they now have become very well known throughout all the GC as one of the most impressive tables.
Current Information: There is a growing rift between those who want to make clean out the gambling houses and clean out the not so well off and those who work in the district and make it wealthy. This has made it's self known in several wild strikes of workers that have twice paralyzed shipping in Amber for a weeks before being solved.
The battle between the Gambling halls who operate mostly at night and that merchants and wholesalers who operate during the day have also become more heated in recent times. There seems to be a longstanding grudge between the Gambling Halls and the Unicorn Church.
