West View
Description: This is the heart and home of the seafaring folk of Amber. Amber's connection to the see is as old as the pattern. Amber has always been a seafaring people and the core of this connection with the see are the people from the windy West View district. Located along the bluff overlooking the ocean to the west of amber this District is a slow paced, easy going back bone of Amber. Here sailors of all types stay and live frequent the literally hundred or so neighborhood brew pubs to with the residence are fiercely loyal.
Traditional navy and Merchant sailor families are the Icons of this traditional district.
Type of Homes: The homes here are some of the oldest on Amber and are marked with Marine Elements. Flags, Name Planks, sails, Portals and rope works are common in this area. This district is dominated by winding roads that make no sense to anyone but those who live there.
Type of Roads: The common road in this district is still dirt with a few main roads in stone. This has bothered the people there who when it rains are often called "Mudfoots"
The cobble stone roads here are actually old ship ballast stones from ships and that makes for treacherous uneven footing.
Make up of people: As has been said before this is an area dominated by Merchant sailors or "Merchies" and enlisted sailors or "Nav's" Here there are a mix of Amberites and peoples from all over the GC. The people of this district care little about race or origin as much as they care about your time at sea. They are, in their own way the most welcoming of all of Amberites.
History: Historically the last old amber district to fill in it was first peopled by the poorest of Amber. Notoriously windy and cold this area soon became home to many who made a living at sea. Over the years the Sailors and officers have come to Amber to buy a home or retire. Here is the living legacy of Amber's power at sea.
The area is very stable and more isolated then you would think. A combination of poor roads and traveling onto the windy slope of the Western arm of Old amber has made it the least traveled of Amber's many districts.
Though many families call it home it is considered old fashioned by most of Amberites, A throw back to the old days. Over the years the citizens of the West View have heard all the talk but the bottom line is always the sea and the control of the sea.
Current Information: This area is still pushing for more paved roads.
