The smallest of the noble families estates, the Orain compound is dominated by an old ruins, sculpture, natural woods and manicured topiary shrubs. The household itself is dedicated to the collection of family and brewery/winery related art, as the brewing winemaking industries of the Gold Coast are one of their main sources of income. 

This small estate is by all accounts the humblest of all of the noble families estates it occupies less area than all of the others occupying only 20 acres the grounds are small and well kept, they are dominated by the remnants of natural woods left in place from the construction of the estate and the new districts at the base of Kolvir. For what it lacks in size it makes up for in quality. It’s landscapes are dominated or dotted with beautiful statuary and small patches of fantastic topiary the most notable of which is a 10’ tall 100 yr old hawthorn trained and clipped to look like a unicorn rearing on its hind legs.

Other notables include the meditation rock in the center of a huge well stocked koi pond, a personal project of Gregors, and a ruins of some old structure built right along side of the cliff face which walls off the back of the estate an focuses the views out to sea. It is thought to have existed as an out structure of the old Amber. Its original purpose is a little hazy - it is arguably a shrine to the unicorn, but its age would make it the oldest site of the church of the unicorn in all of Amber. There are five buildings in the compound a barracks, stables, servants house (like series of row houses along the west wall), the manor house, a green house, and (the largest one) the great hall. All of the buildings are of a square symmetrical style popular from around the time of the expansion of the city, they are all built of the same warm gray stone as many of the other noble houses in the area. The manor house is in most ways unremarkable on the outside it is a plain three-story structure with a small vaulted roof rimming its cornice. It was built on a courtyard scheme with a fountain in the middle. 

The Orain household has dedicated itself and any income it could muster to the collection of art the inside of the house is the true treasure of its nobility. The walls are draped with tapestries. The halls and foyer are lined with family portraiture tracing the family line back to its founding patriarch, Isaiah the elder and his wives. Functional sculpture like lamps, fountains, and urns cram every nook and corner. Then there is the pure statuary; busts of family members are everywhere. In the main foyer there is a 7’ tall bronze of Alethea Orain decked out in her armor and arrayed for battle. As well as images and statuary of anyone so long as the artist was brilliant and the depiction is pleasing to the eye. The house is a museum of fine art a legacy of four generations of collectors. Many of the Orain line have exhibited considerable artistic skill themselves and their work is scattered amongst the works of many of the geniuses. The parlour and the living room are dedicated to the more modern acquisitions of the house three of Stinnen Vodensons massive landscapes are in a large tea room on the west side of the house. They have big interests in the the gold coasts profitable breweries and vineyards and have commissioned numerous landscapes and vignettes depicting the daily life of the brewer/vintner and the enjoyment of the product. In addition to conventional works of art they have attempted in previous years to convert as much of their hard wealth (money) into costly artifacts like gold and jewel encrusted eggs and other wealth embellished object d’art.

House Orain and Loshans union was out of necessity. With so many other house stepping up to a new level of power they were forced to make an adjustment.

The house Loshan is a major player in the lucrative field of underwriting shipping in and around the GC. They have established a reputation in this field of fairness but ruthless sticklers to details of any contracts. Loshan is noted for their aggressive risk taking beyond what the normally conservative houses would consider safe. Loshan prides it's self on spotting a winner long before the race is called. Loshan is also a great collector of specialty art items that they purchase as investments and sell when the market is right. At one time in history Loshan was a military house but they have left all that far behind under the siren call of profits and risk management. They tend to be one of the largest supporter of art in Amber.
