Foreign Minister

The purpose of the Ministry for Foreign Affairs is representing the Social Republic of Schwerdt in the international community. Underscoring the significance of this primary task is the fact that the Foreign Minister is third in the line of succession for head-of-state.

Appointed by the Chancellor and Marshal of the Realm, the Forein Minister serves as Schwerdt's primary expert in international relations. He has charge of all matters of statecraft in the international sphere. This includes grand foreign policy, diplomacy, and administration of Schwerdt's Foreign Service. The Ministry also issues passports for Schwerdtan citizens and visas for foreign nationals seeking entry into Schwerdt.

Organisation of the Ministry

Three main divisions facilitate the efficient fulfillment of the Ministry's mission. A Deputy Minister oversees each division.

International Affairs

Research into a wide variety of topics enables this division to formulate recommendations on foriegn policy for review by the Minister and Chancellor. Each of Schwerdt's other Ministries maintains liaison with this component of the Foreign Ministry to ensure a coordinated state approach to both national and international affairs.

Diplomatic Affairs

Administration of missions, both foreign and Schwerdtan, falls to this division. The division also has charge of the issuance of passports, visas, and other travel documents and administers the Foreign Service, including the Schwerdtan Institute for Foreign Affairs.

International Development

SchwerdtRelief, the international assistance agency, is the most visible element of this division which seeks to implement Schwerdtan foreign policy through humanitarian and economic assistance programs world-wide.
