Tony Tatterton: Tony married a woman twenty years older (Jillian) and seduced & impregnated her fourteen year old daughter (Leigh). He also went crazy and visioned Heaven & Annie as Leigh and attempted to attack them only causing them to run off back to Winnerow. He was known to wear Jilian's nightgown & perfume after her death.

Jillian Tatterton: Jillian was insane about her youth. She thought she could defy age & stay forever young. She could never accept Troy, Tony's younger brother, and tore Troy & Heaven apart by revealing his relationship to her as her uncle. Jillian thought she was going crazy when Troy's "ghost" returned to Farthy & haunted her.

Kitty Setterton Dennison: Kitty's insanity stemmed from the treatment and abuse she received from her parents as a child. She was raised thinking she was cheap & trashy, so that when she did move away and marry, she bought herself a home - sparkling white and clean. Her major problems stemmed from the loss of a child she aborted. The child was Luke Casteel's. The abortion caused her to be unable to bare any children. When Kitty found she was developing a lump in her breast, she hid it and went into a deep depression that eventually caused her death.

Toby Casteel: Poor old Toby couldn't stand the loss of his Annie and imagined her there with him day & night for years after her death. Could this have been Alzheimer's?
