Orphans
Celine Delorice: Celine had once been a wonderful ballerina until an accident that caused her to be confined to a wheelchair for the rest of her life. When Celine and Sanford considered adopting Janet, she was really searching for someone to take her place; someone to continue dancing regardless of whether it was something they wanted or not. She threw fits whenever Janet grew tired or sick. In the end, she caused Janet to have to become an Orphan again.
Amanda Perry: Crystal's birth mother had mental problems and was raped by an attendant at the hospital. That is where she gave birth to Crystal. She also killed herself shortly after.
Thelma Morris: Thelma had a mild case of the "crazies." She was addicted to soap operas and spent her life as if she was on the screen in one herself. She died tragically in a car accident.
Pamela Thompson: Pamela, Brooke's adoptive mother, was a former beauty queen and hand-picked Brooke for her looks. She often forced Brooke to do certain beuty rituals and to constantly be dressed as if she were always in the eyes of a camera.
Brooke Okum: Brooke's craziness surfaced only once in this book. After taking all she could from Pamela, she had some sort of breakdown and cut all of her hair off. (Go Brooke!!!) ;)
Reuben Stack: Head of the loony Stack family, whom I have now given the honorable title of of 2nd Looniest VC Family, is Raven's uncle Reuben. Reuben is very violent and aggressive, not only verbally but physically and sexually. Reuben ranks right up there with ole Uncle Philip Cutler... (Lock him up!)
William Stack: Poor little William. This book left me wondering if nasty Uncle Reuben hadn't been sexually molesting his own son. But William isn't really crazy, just quiet and shy, bottled up in his own world, which is a much better place than the world Reuben keeps him in.
Ma: Raven's mother is a drug addict who can not seem to keep herself out of trouble. We didn't get to glimpse much into her life but she was so self abosrbed and addicted that she hardly knew her own daughter existed!
