Cutler
I was re-reading Twilight's Child and found something I had to laugh at. We see the wedding invitations for Dawn and Jimmy. The date for the wedding shows October 26th (page 57). Yet on Dawn's wedding day, she says (page 81): "...I opened the curtains wide so we could look out on what was beginning to be a glorious late-spring day." Now is it just me but isn't October considered FALL/AUTUMN?
In "Midnight Whispers," Dawn calls Christie "Dawn" during her birthday party. --Andie18834
In Dawn, when she finds out that she is a Cutler, she also finds out that she turned 15 in May, (it's June) and she had just finished her ninth grade year. After a few weeks of working at Cutler's Cove and they compromised and she was sent off to school in NY, NY. Right? She's still fifteen right then and there when the book leaves off on the plane ride. I never knew that a flight from Virginia Beach to New York City took a year. In the beginning of Secrets of the Morning, it's starts off when she arrives right after landing the plane. For some reason she is now 16 and starting her eleventh grade year at the school there. --GGf83
On pages 255-256 ("SOTM") Dawn is leaving the hospital after the accident to go have her baby in Virginia. In the text of the letter she leaves for Trisha she simply says "I'm to live with her sisters in Virginia until the baby is born."
When Jimmy appears at the Booth home to rescue Dawn on page 353 he states (about Trisha) "In a letter you had left her when you left the hospital, you told her you were going to someplace called Upland Station in Virginia and you mentioned the Booth sisters." --Jan Thomas
I don't think that the two Eugenia’s was a coincidence. I remember Grandmother Cutler saying something to the effect of 'Dawn was named after a very important person.' Or some such stuff, she most likely made Dawn's parents name her after little Eugenia Booth. If I find the pages, I'll tell you.
Page 16 of Darkest Hour: "...she told me, pausing to turn to me and fix her soft brown eyes on my face," speaking of Georgia Booth. But then, on page 33 it says: "...her beautiful soft blue eyes filled with pain, Mamma took a deep breath and began."
The Meadows- name of the Booth plantation; "...they meet in a secret place known as...The Meadows..." -Mike Meyer's line as Charlie's father from 'So I Married An Axe Murderer' when speaking about the Pope, Colonel Sanders, the Royal Family, the Vatican, etc. all being in cahoots. (Sorry, just thought it was funny, esp. if you've seen that movie) --EAPoe299
In the Cutler series, Dawn tells Trisha that she was originally named Eugenia for Grandmother Cutler's sister who died of smallpox.... but on the web, it says that Eugenia died of complications due to pnuemonia and cystic fibrosis... --MDEHarde
In Twilight's Child, it says somewhere that Dawn's mother walks out hand-in-hand with Randolph but she has already married Bronson, hence Randolph is already dead. It's nothing big but it just made me laugh. --Peppyperson
Just a little note...in my book, the invites say April 26th and my quote says: "...I opened the curtains wide so we could look out on what was beginning to be a glorious day." I guess our books are different... --Jessica
Very good observation, Jessica. I pulled out my book again and I didn't mistype. Mine is a first edition and I quoted directly from the book. This would be an interesting question to ask our ghostwriter, to see if there was an edited version done at some point. Very, very strange. Thanks! --Shay
In Twilights Child (pg.137), it says how it was time to go and Laura Sue flashed a smile at Dawn. And "Randolph" escorted her and Jimmy out. But Randolph is dead, did he just come from the grave and start escorting me to their cars? --Satura Jackson
In Twilights Child (pg.89), it says Sissy and Christie were on the far right end with "Tricia" beside them. Who is Tricia? Is it supposed to be Trisha? --Satura Jackson
On the cover of Dawn, I've noticed that Sally Jean and Jimmy have fair complexions instead of the bronzed complexions the book described them as having. Also, have you noticed that Momma Longchamp's eyes are a shade of pale green instead of dark, like it said in the book? Baby Fern's hair isn't black on the cover; it's a shade of light brownish-blond! And also, Dawn's hair isn't flaxen like it said in the book; it's a shade of pale yellow. I've noticed on the cover of Midnight Whispers, Fern and Gavin have light hazel eyes instead of dark, as it was stated in the book. And what about the Darkest Hour? They say that Emily's eyes are gray, but on the cover of the book, they are black. --MookyVirgo2001
