In the book "Rain," when her(Rain) mama is dying, Grandmother Hudson had her flown in an airplane to the hospital. In the book "Lighting Strikes," Jake drives her to the airport to fly to England and they discuss how she has never flown on an airplane before. --Tami Nickerson

I dont have my book in front of me but there is a part where Rain is the house alone (wheelchair bound) and there is a horrible storm. The lights go out and she is desperately looking for candles.
