In "Hidden Jewel," Pearl asks Jack Clovis to call her Ruby. --SilverWild

In "All That Glitters," when Giselle sends Ruby a postcard from Paris, she mentions that Beau met her at the airport and brought her flowers. But, in "Hidden Jewel," Beau tells Pearl, that one day he had a knock on his door and he opened it up to find Giselle just standing there. --Lauren

Let me state that I think the reason this might have happened is because Gisselle was trying to do anything to make Ruby jealous. Just another lie from Gisselle's lips...

In "Hidden Jewel," Gabriel is 17 and is still 17 when she was raped by Octavious. On page 174, it states that Paul is 3 years old and then on page 177 is Gabriel's 19th birthday - if Paul is 3 then Gabriel has to be at least 20 if not 21 after being pregnant for 9 months. (As noted by VC Fan Melissa)

This is on your webpage as a mistake and observation...it is correct but it is not in "Hidden Jewel." It is in "Tarnished Gold." --ScHiZoPhI2eNiC

In Pearl in the Mist, Paul is talking about Mrs. Livaudis and Mrs.Thibodeau but on page 222 he calls them Mrs. Livaudais and Mrs. Thirbodeaux. In all the other books in the series the names are spelled the first way.

In Hidden Jewel, Pearl is talking about Louis Turnbull but calls him Louis Clairborne which is his grandmother's last name. --Penguin1jg

I noticed as I was reading the Landry series that Grandmere Catherine said that after the birth of Paul, Gabrielle stopped caring about everything including school... but in Tarnished Gold the very first thing you read about is Gabrielle's high school graduation....... with her as VALEDICTORIAN...... --MDEHarde

I read this and since I was already reading "Hidden Jewel" I looked back. I think the person who put this is meant in "Tarnished Gold" since "Hidden Jewel" is mostly about Pearl. --GisseIIeDumas

VC Fan, Lis, noted that this mistake above is incorrect. In the beginning of Tarnished Gold, Gabrielle is not mentioned as valedictorian... However Pearl is mentioned as valedictorian in Hidden Jewel...

Gabriel Landry is spelled in TARNISHED GOLD, Gabriel. In RUBY, it is spelled Gabrielle. Also, Jack Landry acts like Gabriel is so innocent, a victim of men, when she willingly and continously slept with Pierre Dumas and Jack tells everyone she was raped. First of all, how dumb can you be, you've been raped once and were pregnant, so why take the risk again? Also, ANYONE who knows Gabriel was pregnant before wouldn't believe she was raped twice!! --Ola Kola

I just wondered if you've ever noticed this. In the original printing of Ruby, Ruby and Giselle's (and Paul's!) mother Gabriel is spelled Gabrielle Landry. In Tarnished Gold, the story of Gabriel, it is spelled that way also. Is it just me, or isn't Gabriel a boy's name??? I liked it better as Gabrielle!!! --Amanda

I read "Tarnished Gold" before I started "Ruby" ...I think that should be the first book of the series because it explains everything. Anyhow, in "Tarnished Gold" it says how Monsieur Tate raped Gabrielle and she became pregnant. Madame Tate locked her in the attic for the remainder of her pregnancy and faked our own pregnancy. In "Ruby," Grandmere Catherine explains to Ruby that they hid her in their [shack]. I don't know if anyone else noticed, but I was a bit confused at first. --Carolyn

In "Hidden Jewel" Gabriel is 17 and is still 17 when she was raped by Octavius. On page 174, it states that Paul is 3 years old and then on page 177 is Gabriel's 19th birthday - if Paul is 3 then Gabriel has to be at least 20 if not 21 after being pregnant for 9 months. --Melissa)

On page 4, in "All that Glitters" Ruby says that Pearl has the same eye color as herself and Paul. Which is blue. But on page 9 of "Hidden Jewel" Pearl says her mother has emerald green eyes. --Samimojojojo

It seems they got very confused when they talk about both pregnancies of Gabrielle:
In Ruby, p.103 Grandmere tells Ruby about Gabrielle's second pregnancy and says: "This time Gabrielle didn't tell me she was pregnant. She didn't have to. I saw it in her face and soon saw it in her stomach. When I confronted her about it, she simply smiled and said she wanted Pierre's baby."
Yet, in Tarnished Gold, p.269-270 it's described how Gabrielle was so nervous about telling her mother about her pregnancy and then says: "I'm pregnant Mama."
So....... did she or didn't she tell her? I don't think Grandmere Catherine would just make up that story about her own daughter not even telling her she was pregnant. --Mariana

When Grandmere Catherine is describing how she knew about Gabrielle's first pregnancy she says Gabrielle said: "Mama, she said her voice cracking, I think I'm pregnant" (p. 66 Ruby) But in Tarnished gold, p. 57, Grandmere is asking Gabrielle a lot of questions because she is suspicious and then SHE is the one who tells Gabrielle she is pregnant and Gabrielle doesn't want to believe it. And Grandmere even dares to say that Octavius seduced her, not raped her! --Mariana

About the cover art, there's one thing more: In Ruby, p. 66 Grandmere says Gabrielle has "her raven black eyes" and yet in the cover of tarnished gold it looks more like light green (?) besides, if she had black eyes how come she gave birth to girls with green eyes and a boy with blue eyes? Doesn't make sense. --Mariana

((Explain how my husband has blue eyes, I have dark brown eyes and our son has green eyes. ;) hehe))

In "Ruby" when Grandmere Catherine is telling the story of Ruby's birth to Ruby, she pretty much tells her an entirely different story than the one in "Tarnished Gold". --Piglet2481

In "Ruby" after Gisselle is born and brought out to the Dumas, Grandpere Jack comes back in and tries to sell Ruby too. Grandmere said she hit him with a frying pan and knocked him unconscious. That does not happen. In "Ruby", she says she had packed all his things and chased him out of the house when he awoke. In "Tarnished Gold", after Grandpere Jack gave the baby to the Dumas, he leaves because Grandmere had kicked him out of the house before that when he goes to the Dumas and offers Gabrielle's baby for sale. And when the book ends, he does not know that Ruby exists. --Piglet2481

In "Ruby" Grandmere says that Gabrielle's last words to her were "Thank you ma mere, ma belle mere," Yet in "Tarnished Gold" her last words have something to do with her bleeding. --Piglet2481

In Pearl in the Mist on page 240 Ruby calls Mrs. Ironwood "Mrs.Ironside." --Ruby Rain

Just to add one more thing about a comment made already, that Grandmere said Gabrielle was hidden in the cottage but she really was hidden in the Tate's house, it makes it even worse when Grandmere says in Ruby, p 67: "What he told his new wife and how they worked out between them, we never knew, never care to know" especially after a big part of Tarnished Gold tells how it was, and how she even delivered with Gladys in the room. --Mariana

Possibly that's what Grandmère Catherine *wanted* Gabrielle to say. Maybe over the years, she convinced herself that actually happened. Although, Gabrielle could have said it in her delirium... --Laura
