Terrestris generates terrain based on the musical output of an MP3 player, which in turn creates a 3d world that you fly through enhancing your favorite songs to a new level of enjoyment. Currently there exists 4 planets (natural satellites) that Terrestris renders. With each terrain you can control the speed of your journey and look around at the passing terrain in a stunning 360 degree view. As the song progresses the terrain goes through a time lapse, so eventually it becomes nighttime then progresses back to daylight.
Mars
You will feel alien in this dry cold place. The
atmosphere is so thin you almost see some stars during the daytime. Do
you think you can find deimos and phoebos in the night sky?
IO
For this rendering I asserted my own theory on
how Jupiter greatly affects IO's daytime/nighttime appearance. Jupiter
Light provides most of IO's daylight. As Jupiter rises tidal forces
increase volcanic activity, what a show!
Random
This rendering can be randomly recreated at will,
enjoy a completely new terrain whenever you want, nearly an infinite planets
to view. Who knows what new worlds await!
If your Creating an mp3 player or currently marketing
an mp3 player and are interested in incorporating this plugin as a feature
in your player please contact me. My email address is dantavares@comcast.net
Terrestris is written in OpenGL so it renders smoothly and is easily ported to any platform.
If you like Terrestris and you are not currently developing or marketing an MP3 player, but just want to play with it, please send an email to your MP3 manufacture i.e. Windows Media Player (Microsoft), iTunes (Apple), and tell them about Terrestris. If that fails you can send me donations to fund this project, then when I get enough funding ill be able to port this to your favorite mp3 player. Feel free to send me email on any sugestions.
