Dare - The Human League - 1981 Modern synthesised dance music has a lot of expectations to live up to when compared to real synthpop like Dare. There was a time when artists used a synthesiser as an instrument to create an atmosphere or to change the traditional music sound, not like the latest dance/trance that could be put to shame by someone dialling long distance on a touch tone phone! This was the first Human League record I bought, and I have been a fan ever since and still have yet to hear better synthesised music. If by any chance you haven't heard this record yet, for example your head has been set in concrete since 1981, then you have to hear this one.
