Dune The first time I watched this with my family, the tape just stoped and we sat there blankly for a moment before I said "What on earth was all that about?". I've since realised it's a must to read the book first, else it's 2 or 3 hours of incomprehendible confusion. With the ever increasing amount of films based on books, which more often than not expect you to to have read the book. I'm starting to belive along with age ratings they should incorporate a 'read book first' tag. On a more positive note though, this film has a lot going for it with some well cast actors, and incredable sets and costumes. Dune also has some special effects that were great for the time. This film has not recived the attention or critical aclaim it deserves. Still it's far from forgoton with a reasonable online folowing and several games based on it. This film didn't get the publicity or viewing it merrits, but if you've read the book it's worth watching. + Good acting and plot, totally awesome sets and effects. - Good if you've read the book, otherwise prepair to be confused. |
