Tron My first reaction to watching this
movie was like, 'yikes someone had a large budget
to dispose of!' Seriously Tron looks feels and
sounds expensive, even more so considering it's
from 1982. The plot is about a video game
designer called Flyn, who is zapped in to a game
called Tron (obviously!). Once zapped inside the
computer system he has to return it to a free
system by destroying the security program, only
after this can he leave the computer. From the
looks of the zapping inside the computer scene, I
guessed I was in for a sci-fi special effect
treat! Most of the film is set in a computer
generated world within the computer system, which
looks great. This definatly is a recommended film
to sci-fi fans, but even if you don't
particularly like sci-fi give it a go. Unlike
most films of this genre it breaks away from the
cryptic techno-babble associated with them, which
all to easily wards off potential viewers.
+ Good
effects, Good plot and script that avoids the
techno-jargon pitfall that traps many sci-fi
films.
- We don't
learn much about the characters, they missed a
huge opportunity to build on them and interest
the viewer more.
