• My Martindale Ancestors including Kettle and Head

William Martindale born around 1790  probably close to Farnworth Prescot Lancashire, the father of Henry Martindale born around 1815 again near to Farnworth Prescot.

Henry Martindale married Mary Ann Haselden/Hazeldine (daughter of  Henry Hazeldine) 20th June 1841 in Farnworth nr Prescot.

Son Henry as follows, he married twice. His first wife is detailed only as M J Martindale on the 1881 census.

Carmell Reis b 1885 Liverpool   (married and moved to South Shields, had a connection with a greengrocery shop).

Enio Calona b 1884 Liverpool

Family of Elizabeth Beston

Elizabeths family are proving difficult to trace, however 95 Upper Frederick Street was occupied by Robert Beston a widower b 1822 Ireland (father) and Robert Beston b 1858 Liverpool (son). I am reasonably convinced that this these people are the father and brother of Elizabeth. Mainly due to the class and occupation of Elizabeth and Domingo, he is detailed on Inocensio's birth certificate as a seaman. Clearly  the Reis family were working class, so it would make sense for Elizabeth to live with her father while Domingo was sailing the sea's.

Williams (b1893) occupation was a coal miner before he fought in the First World War being  gassed in the trenches. During the Second War he spent some time traveling with Vera Lyn playing the piano for her, entertaining the troops.

William was married three times, his first wife was Amelia Pigott from St Helens, the second was Mary Evangeline Head, Williams second wife, she babysat for the children of William and Amelia,  clearly Mary was much younger than William. She died about 1947 after giving birth to a daughter Carol, Carol was adopted by the Bevan family, apparently Mrs Bevan was Marys sister.
