Romeo & Juliet Tutorial
This is my first dolling tutorial! Can you believe it? I made a Juliet (from Romeo & Juliet) doll once, and a friend suggested I made a tutorial for them,
as they are apparently quite hard! Romeo & Juliet are © William Shakespear, but the dolling outfits are based after the 1996 film, Romeo and Juliet
(I recommend you go see it! It's my favorite movie!).
The results at the end of the tutorial is |C| to me, so you can't copy my hair, outfit, ect. pixelxpixel. Anyways, you wouldn't learn anything that way! x_X
Please link back if you use this tutorial, and found it
useful! ^_^
Turtles Note: It is recommended that you have Paint Shop Pro Version 8 or 9, however it is not
nessacary. Simply ignore the layer stuff if you are using Paint. It is also recommended that you pop the DVD in your computer,
and watch the film to understand what I am talking about. o_O
Romeo
We are making Romeo in the costume she wears when she meets Juliet. He is in the Capulet Mansion, and is at Juliets familys
party. If you remember the film, it is where Tybalt confronts Juliets father about Romeo Montague being in the party.
It is like a knights costume.
1. I am assuming that you have finished the Juliet Tutorial, right? If you haven't than you should go here.
If you haven't than you need to finish Juliet first. The hardest goes last and.. Romeo is the hardest. x_x;
2. Okay! Open up the Juliet doll you made. It is on the Angy-Chan Old Style Manga Couple Base, if you remember.
3. Click the 'Hair' layer, and go to Layer>New Raster Layer. Name the Layer Romeo Costume. Zoom in on the male figure of the base, and
(using a gray color) draw the costume. Detail doesn't matter at this point. You do not need to have a 100% perfect no-crossing outline
to begin with, so if you want, you can scribble it. When you are done scribbling it, clean up the outline, and fill it in with a lighter (gray) color. Shade the black pants.
The result should look similar to mine (below).

4.
Click the magic wand tool. Make the settings like mine; Mode: Add; Match Mode: RGB Value; Tolerance: 0.
Than click the areas that I have chosen (below). They are red, just so you can see them, but don't actually color your base red. o_O
5. Click Effects>Texture Effects>Weave. Make the settings like mine, below. Than click CTRL+D, and select the other areas inside the outline. Don't reselect the part we just unselected. Using the Dodge color at an opacity of 30, size:5, hardness:50,
color the part that is supposed to shine. Make it look real.
I know mine looks pretty bad (my Romeo, atleast) but since I am sort of rushing, it is as good as a hour-outfit can look. xD
4. We are so close to being done! Click
Layer>New Raster Layer. Name the Layer Hair2. Using a dirty blonde color, draw Romeos hair.Fill it in with a lighter blonde color, and (using the lighten/darken tool) shade the hair. =D
6. Yay!^_^ Romeo is nearly done! =D All you have to do to finish him is Create a new layer Called Details, and draw
in the things in the film that we saw made Romeo.. er.. Romeo. xD And some shoes would be nice too. ^^ All you need for shoes in a black pair. :3
Done! Romeo & Juliet are done! =D
