Jackie started playing Highland Bagpipes in January, 2000 with Iain Mac Harg of Marshfield, VT. Since then, she has attended the Invermark College of Piping and Drumming workshops of Stonehill, MA and Castleton, VT, with instructors such as Jack Lee, Gail Brown, Dr. Jack Taylor, Norman Ghillies, Jim McGillivray, Adrian Melvin, John Wilson and Donald Lindsay.
In March of 2001, she spent two weeks in the frosty north at the College of Piping in Summerside, Prince Edward Island Canada, under the instruction of Director Scott MacAulay and Sean Somers.
In 2002, she attended the Ontario School of Piping and Drumming in Aurora, ON Canada run by Jim McGillivray and featuring instructors such as Willie McCallum and Alasdair Ghillies, and Piping Hot Summer Drummer at Silver Star Mountain, BC, run by the four time grade one world champions, the Simon Fraser University Pipe Band. She has been taking lessons from Donald Lindsay of NY for the past 6 years.
Currently, she is a member of good standing with the EUSPBA (Eastern United States Pipe Band Association) as a solo competitor in Grade 2. She has competed with the Grade 2 Troy, NY based pipe band Oran Mor Pipe Band and currently plays with the Grade 3 Montpelier, VT based pipe band Catamount Pipe Band, of which she is a founding member.
Jackie plays a set of circa 1908 R.G. Lawrie pipes made of african blackwood and mounted with ivory, and chanters made by Michael MacHarg.
