Invasion Info: The Nazis had already taken over places in Europe such as Poland, France, and Denmark. Their plan, or Hitler's plan, was to take over the Soviet Union as well, so enventually the whole world would be taken over.  The Nazis came into Stalingrad in August 1942 and nearly took over the city. Every house, business, and store was a battle ground and the city was in total ruins. In the winter of 1943, the Nazis were weakening.  They were out of food and had little winter clothing. In the end, the Soviet army came from around the city and surrounded the Nazis.  They were forced to surrender and for the first time in the war, hope set apon the allied forces that Germany could be defeated.
