i am not cutting it in the corporate world.
first of all, i hate corporate capitalism. i'm not going to go into that right now.
second of all, i also hate materialism. i'm not going to go into that either.
thirdly, i care about the environment and people in other countries. honestly, i care about them more than i care about my home and most of the very rude people around me.
i want to live and work in a residential community. i'm looking into:
1) the peace corps;
2) working abroad to teach english, computer skills, sports, math, science, history, music, and/or other skills we in america take for granted;
3) finding a co-op.
right now, i have a comfortable job with a big corporation. it's a lot like office space, if you've ever seen that movie. but i really shouldn't complain. anyone who works a white-collar job shouldn't complain, really. the money is good. it's not at all strenuous. the environment is comfortable. thank god for my office being right next door to a public library and the children's museum and the public theater. also in allegheny center is a park, grade schools, and the former planetarium. the mattress factory and the aviary and east ohio street and the warhol museum and the north shore are all really close too. and i do sneak out of the office to go to these places - my salvation from sitting-at-computer slavery.

the day before i wrote this, i started a new fun second job. i'm now a gymnastics instructor at a pretty nice gym in "the factory", which also houses a vegetarian co-op, a climbing wall, an indoor skate park, a bike shop, and a theater. is this a fun building or what? i think i'll be working mostly with 7-9 year olds, and they're all bouncy and fun and bright so i'm kinda spoiled but it's fun. except for driving through downtown at rush hour to get there. i guess i'll have to write more about this when i figure out what's going on.
my other "work" is music, i have a whole page about that. (s)
